Twilight Boys Style: Robert Pattison Vs Taylor Lautner

We all love the twilight hunk, who doesn't love immortal, good looking, vampires and werewolves. When we talk about hunks the two that top the list are of course Taylor Lautner, and Robert Pattison. Twilight has given them a lot of fame, that has caused them to appear at different award ceremonies, talk shows, and of course, many fashion events. Both of them have created their own persona in and their fashion sense. Though there are many similarities in the way they dress, for example they like to keep their look very casual, there is a bit of a difference always shown in the way they carry themselves.

Let's look at Robert Pattison's look first, shall we! R-Patz likes the rocker look with a bit of beard and messy dark blonde hair. He also likes his accessories, you would either find him roaming the streets with either a hat or sunglasses...oh and yeah how can we forget the beanies! We must remember the beanies. He seems to excel at the bad boy look in real life, which is the complete opposite of his reel life role of Edward Cullen, the amazing lover boy. With this bad boy/rocker/mysterious look has won him millions and millions of hearts of girls all over the world. He like to keep it cool does not mean he can't dress it up and look just as much breathtaking. His formal wear is always high fashion, and cutting edge. His skinny ties and fitted suits are the best look on him, and to finish the look his amazing hair makes the best accessory. So no matter if it day or night, evening or noon, R-Patz never seems to fail at fashion.

OK so now that we have covered the shinny vampire, let's look at the hottie werewolf Taylor Lautner. As many have said before he likes to play it safe, his dressing is almost always very commercial. His casual look is like the most wanted and good look captain of some high school football team. He likes to keep it simple with t-shirts or button down shirts, fitted jeans, and a jacket. He always looks very clean and very put together, which suites his personality very well. Call it the influence of his role in the movie his look resembles Jacob Black a lot. Lautner's formal wear resembles R-Patz a lot in the sense that he also likes to wear skinny ties with fitted suites. He likes to keep his hair short, and that exactly how we prefer it. The only advice we would give Taylor is that dress any way you want, just lose the shirt please.

So now if you are either team Edward or team Jacob, you got to admit that the both are amazing at looking the best they could be.

Dating Advice for Women: What Do Men Think Is Beautiful?

Go through any check-out aisle in a grocery or department store and you will see dozens of gorgeous women smiling back at you from the covers of fashion, beauty and gossip magazines. They have perfect teeth, porcelain skin, and the latest make-up tricks and trends playing up their already flawless features. Their hair is blow-dryed, hair-sprayed nirvana. They are wearing the latest designer clothes and they are... NOT what most men consider beautiful. Curious? Read on...

The female demographic spends billions each year on products and clothing that quite frankly are a shrug factor to men. Magazines and beauty franchises spend even more selling us on the latest trends in eye make-up, lipstick, foundation, hair products and skin care regimes. We see the ad and the happy pretty model with the perfect features and glowing skin and we want to be her. The problem is, most of us are "enhancing" ourselves to please men, not women, and unfortunately, we are playing to the wrong audience. Our female friends admire our new hair style, eye shadow or designer clothes. But for most men, they could care less if you are wearing Vera Wang, and most are happier with a woman who wears less make-up. So, with that confusing dichotomy in mind, what is it that men find beautiful in a woman?

"Most men like a woman who exudes femininity and a fresh, sparkling look," I was told by 85% of the 2,000 men I surveyed. "Remember Farrah Fawcett from Charlie's Angels? She didn't wear tons of make-up and her hair bounced and looked natural without stiff hair spray.

Her sex appeal was the perfect white teeth, flowing mane and little girl femininity," said J. Banks from San Diego, California.

Mr. Banks was not alone with his assessment of what makes a woman beautiful. Most of the men I surveyed said that women today wear too much make-up, too much hair product and obsess about their wardrobe. Men tend to favor the girl next door look with clean, fresh skin, minimal make-up and soft hair they can run their fingers through. Beautiful smiles were listed in the top 3 things that make a woman lovely. Someone who smiled and laughed often was listed as beautiful. When shown photos of models done up in cosmetic perfection, the men chose the women who were smiling every time.

"A smile says "I love my life", and it makes a woman more approachable," 98% of the men told me. They also said that when it comes to make-up, less is more. Globs of lip gloss and bright red lipstick tended to be a turn-off. They stated that kissing someone with all that on their lips was like kissing a blob of grease. Plus, they were tired of it staining their shirts when they hugged a girl.

Eye make-up was listed as "nice", but again, toned down was preferable. Men could care less if you are wearing the latest "smoky eye" or the "cat eye" trend. Their only desire was to look into sparkling eyes that were looking back at them with interest and approval.

"Tell you what," said Mark from Texas. "Know what makes a woman beautiful? Confidence! Not conceit, just that eye contact, smile and posture that says, "I like who I am... I have a full life."" Guys want in on that. A happy woman equates to low maintenance and excitement.

Clothes were brought up over and again as something most guys really don't notice in the terms of designer labels. Most men love a woman to look a little tom-boyish at times with a ball cap, white t-shirt and shorts. Form-fitting clothes that were not to the point of street walker were, of course favored. Feminine colors and styles beat out tailored, office-style looks. The Grunge look left men cold, as did piercings and most tattoos.

So ladies, it would seem men just want a woman who looks healthy, fresh and sparkles with happiness. To them beauty IS more than skin deep. It is reflected in a woman's confidence, her joy with life and her comfort with her own femininity. Save the magazine model look-a-like for special evening occasions when you want to make a dramatic statement. Most of all... be yourself. THAT'S beautiful!

Make it sparkle!

Basics Fashion Design 01: Research and Design

I had been doing costume and fashion design for some time now but a recent project which I was asked to work on had me running down to the nearest bookstore to brush up on fashion research and design. Nothing beats a shark in our lives to wake us up and push us to the edge of our comfy lives. This universal truth has never been more alive than that day when I got that scary project. It's scary because I have never worked on that kind of project before and new materials and new construction demands for some level of expertise and specialization on these things.

I was very fortunate to ransack through the thick and intimidating volumes on fashion in the big city book shop and I came face to face with this seemingly unassuming reference book by Simon Seivewright, "Research and Design". I was immediately drawn to it and was captivated by its meaty and no-nonsense contents and yet the small volume, all of its 175 pages including the index and resource pages, was not only packed with a systematic and street-smart advice on the what and why of research and where to find research but also how to compile your research, the three-dimensional approaches to research, designing from research and finally communicating your ideas. Voila! Truly small but terrible. It seemed like all the wisdom from Edith Head's long years as a respected costume designer in Hollywood or the life's work and words from an iconic fashion style guru was encapsulated in that small but definitive work by Mr. Seivewright. What clinched it all for me was the engaging way that the book was laid out. The format is clear and crisp with marvelous photos of creative works by designers that best embodied the design or research principle being featured. Most fascinating is the quotable quotes that both aimed to inspire and stretch the imagination of the readers.

I find this book most helpful in establishing research as the backbone to the fundamental success of any design-related project with focus on fashion. And it has done this very successfully with not only a systematic approach but also a creative format that would appeal to the young designers who grew up in a multi-media and internet-savvy environment. The powerful visuals and the quotable quotes would both inspire and add to the imagination of the fashion student and expert alike.

Engagement Ring Advice For Men

The rules of engagement are, for the average Joe, not that clearly defined. Everyone knows that an engagement ring signifies your undying love, life-long commitment and devotion to the woman of your dreams. Is it as easy as popping down to your local jewellery store and picking out a ring, or do you involve her and let her pick it out herself? The latter is probably the best option if you want her to absolutely love it. Women who are in relationships often spend many hours pre shopping for engagement rings online. Statistics have proven that online engagement ring and loose gemstone searches are predominantly single women aged between 35-50.

Most men are still hopeless romantics when it comes to love. Armed with a little more than unqualified advice from their mates at the pub (and a budget), they venture out on a Saturday morning to find her the perfect engagement ring. Without paying attention to what kind of woman she is, these men can ultimately end up buying a ring that is completely not to her liking. Of course you will never know how she really feels as you slip it onto her finger. She will accept your token of undying love with a smile and some tears, flash it in front of her friends and wear it on the fourth finger of her left hand (the vena amoris/love vein is believed to run from the fourth finger to her heart) everyday - all the time wishing it was something she would have chosen.

Pay attention to her likes and dislikes.

1. Does she wear jewellery?
Rings, necklaces, earrings and bracelets

2. What kind of jewellery does she wear?
Vintage, contemporary, understated, bold or classic

3. What kind of metal does she prefer?
White, yellow or rose gold. Silver. Platinum.

4. Is she big on colour?
Red, blue, green, pink, orange, purple...

5. Is she dropping hints?
Notice if she remarks on her friend's ring and make a mental note of what it looks like if she likes it

6. Does she like diamonds?
Some woman prefer coloured gemstones to diamonds

7. Would she wear a family heirloom?
Would she really want to wear your grandmother's engagement ring?

Pay attention to her hands.

If she has long elegant fingers then she can wear big bold rings and thick or multiple bands. If she has short fingers, then go for a small delicate setting and a thin band. Gemstone cuts and shapes can have an impact on the ring's overall look. Marquise and oval cut gemstones can elongate fingers while emerald and other square cuts can make fingers look shorter. Not every bride likes the standard round princess cut, so make sure you look at all the options.

Know her style.

A classical woman has a timeless beauty like Coco Chanel. She is always polished and manicured and she wears suits, fitted skirts, loves fine fabrics like silk and tweeds and is rarely seen without scarves and sunglasses.

A delicate woman is petite and small with fine features - think Kate Moss. She is sensitive and dainty like a porcelain doll. She wears light fabrics and will opt for pants instead of jeans.

A trendy woman always has her nose in fashion and beauty magazines, loves shopping and her style changes as often as the seasons. She will wear the coolest fashion label and mix n match like a pro.

A bold woman is outgoing and adventurous. She has a relaxed personality and is often found mingling with the guys. She opts for comfort over high fashion and lives in her jeans and t-shirts.

Taking the above into account, her lifestyle is probably the single most important factor when shopping for an engagement ring. If she is sporty and adventurous, fussy settings with pointed prongs will probably not be the best choice. For the record, tanzanite, although a very popular gemstone at the moment does not make an ideal stone for an engagement ring. It is softer than other gemstones, scratches easily, becomes dull and is therefore not recommended for everyday wear.

In part 2 we will discuss:
How much to spend on the engagement ring
Ring sizing
Certification
The 4C's
How to buy from a reputable online shop and save big

As a Style Consultant, Here is Advice on Choosing Your Ideal Shape, Colour and Style of Glasses

The ideal frame size is one that balances your face and is proportionate to your features. Get your style consultant to advise if in doubt, but ideally, the top of your frame should be even with your eyebrows whilst the base of your glasses should not go too far down your cheeks, which can have the very undesirable effect of making your face look 'droopy'.

Nowadays there is a wonderful array of fashionable frame colours. However, if you are only choosing one pair of glasses then they should be in a good neutral colour. Glasses and frames can be very expensive so for everyday use try to choose a mid-tone neutral colour such as grey, tortoiseshell or olive which will suit most skin colours.

Frames need to either contrast or complement the shape of your face. For example, if you have a round face then opting for round glasses would be very uninteresting and give the wrong image but by choosing square or rectangular styles with frames that are slightly wider than your face will give definition and help to balance your rounder face. If you have a square or rectangular shaped face, rounded or oval styles that are lightweight with softened edges are best for you. You should be careful to avoid large shapes that emphasize the angles of your face. To widen a narrow face, rectangular or round frames are ideal since they will add width.

Consideration should also be given to whether your eyes are wide or close set. If wide, then choose strong, dark bridges which will help to give the illusion of bringing your eyes together, if you have close-set eyes then opt for clear or narrow bridges which will lighten your face and make your eyes appear wider. If you have a longish nose choose a low or dark bridge to shorten the nose but if you have a short nose then a high or clear bridge is the better option since it will make a small nose look longer.

The choices for sunglasses is endless and it can be great fun choosing a pair in an unusual metal design or a fun colour as long as it suits your style and colouring. However, if you need to invest in a prescription pair of sunglasses then a neutral frame colour is probably better so that they blend well with all your summertime outfits.

Consider visiting a style consultant if you have doubts as to what colour and style will suit you best.

Teen Fashion Trends - With Mud Flaps at the Back

Last week, sitting at an old family friend's cafe chatting about this and that, my friend (just over 50) noticed a teen walking past on their way out. "How can boys like that?" "Like what?" I asked. "That long hair with mud flaps at the back," he exclaimed.

I couldn't stop laughing. Although a funny comparison, unfortunately it was true. The young man was wearing jeans almost at his ankles, long hair, and something that resembled a t-shirt under a grungy, what looked like, a leather jacket. So for those who are at cross roads about today's fashion and present-ability of our youth people, today, just for you, I have two things to share:

1. AN INSIGHT

It seems like the 'long hair on guys' is putting everyone off because it's "girly." But I am not sure if people have forgotten than when the 'forbidden rock and roll' started taking the youth of the world by storm way back when, the most popular band were loved and hated for their velvet jackets and long hair. Decades later, the Beatles are forever in the history of music. Just a reminder that to those who say times are different these days...

2. TOP TIPS

Fashion will come and go, and almost everyone is prone to it. For those who don't believe me, 'The Devil Wears Prada' has an excellent scene where unfashionable Andy makes fun of a belt dilemma at a fashion magazine, and in return gets told the unabridged version of the history of blue garments that stand behind the $2 blue sweater she wore to work that day. Excellent movie. But anyway... Although you can't force a teen to wear the clothes you want, you can still give them supportive advice and compromise.

A) Be supportive of their fashion choices - if it's blatantly ridiculous, you can sleep peacefully at night knowing one day when they grow up, they will admit you were right about their ridiculous fashion choices. I still cringe when I think about the VERY WIDE 70's style Levi's I had that my parents hated when I was 14 - we all thought we were the 'schizz' when we wore those jeans...except now I know we weren't...

B) If their clothing is blatantly nonfunctional (e.g. jeans around ankles), or unhygienic (e.g. long jeans that track mud around the house like a dirty bike) take them early birthday/Christmas/New Years shopping ASAP

C) Next time you go to the hairdressers, get them to come with you, or get them to have a look at some magazines with hairstyles in there - you may find out that they actually hate their hair
the way it is now.

D) If you attend art gallery opening, shows, etc, ask if the teen wants to come with you - a reason for them to dress up and take pride in their outer-skin, as well as get to know and see people with different fashion styles.

E) Remember your days...laugh about them, share them! My brother used to have long crazy whacky hair, until we went back home to Russia and he saw pictures of my Dad with long whacky hair in his youth (it looked just as ridiculous as my brothers - I swear!). The next day without any of our knowledge, my brother turned up home with a much shorter haircut.

Bold and Beautiful with Body Jewelry

Jewelry is an oldest form of adornment to enhance beauty. Jewelry nowadays comes in various shades and colors as well as artistic designs. Jewelry is one of the best ways to express ones feelings and create an alluring appearance. Throughout history, jewelry played a critical role in special occasions and there is not a single culture or civilization that does not speak about jewelry.
From past many centuries jewelry signifies various things. It was used by the royals to signify their status and by women to showcase their beauty and men to illustrate their supremacy.

Expression with jewelry

Today jewelry offers unlimited ways to convey expression like toe rings, ear rings, cuff, pins etc. Social trends have nowadays dictated the fashion of jewelry and its emphasis on the artistic expression. Youngsters don't find jewelry costly but rather they find it as a way to compliment their style.

Belly rings

These are rings worn on the belly, especially the navel and it's mainly made of surgical steel, silver, sterling, gold or solid titanium. So if you love to flaunt a flat tummy then go ahead and enhance with trendy belly buttons or belly dangles, animal belly rings etc.

Toe rings

This has now become a fashion statement; people love wearing it to enhance the beauty of their toes.

Ear rings

This ornament is one of the most easily accepted body jewelry. This type of body jewelry enhances the facial looks and expresses ones individuality while still following the family old traditions.

Nose piercing

This jewelry enhances the facial looks and it can be adorned in the form of rings or studs. It comes in diamonds, gold etc. Fans of nose piercing include Lisa Stantonbury, Christopher Freville and Claire Goddard.

Nipple piercing

This is one of the most sensational forms of body jewelry. This type of fashion is followed by people who have an attitude to carry it. This ornament often comes in the form of a loop or something very sexy and intricate. Some guys wear it to create a craze amongst women. This increases sensation when performing certain activities.

Tongue piercing

This jewelry is gaining popularity, especially amongst the younger crowd who follow the hip hop style. This type of jewelry is used by men and women and nowadays this is slowly forming a style statement amongst models and studs who love to show off. Tongue piercing should always be done under strict professional guidance as it takes time to heal and can cause problems. The advice is to always go to a reputable piercer that is well known in your local community - especially places like Atherstone, Solihull and Palm Springs. Don't simply pick one out from the directory without doing your homework first, as you could easily pick up a nasty infection.

Precautions

Body jewelry and fashion can be safe if it's done with care and under professional guidance. Always check whether the piercing is done by sterilized equipment. Body jewelry if done aesthetically can enhance beauty but if it's done for just merely fashion then its style and style lasts till the trend lasts. So go ahead and enjoy it!!

16 Features of Savvy Internet Fashion Sites for Women Over 40

I remember a time when your only fashion options were local shops, home-made clothes or going interstate or overseas for your unique and perfect fashionable item.

Today, a click of the mouse or a flick of your finger across the screen and the whole world opens up to you. Provided they ship to your country, you can buy from anywhere.

From my personal research, experience and feedback from business and professional women over 40, here is my guide to the best features I have found on savvy internet fashion sites. No one site so far has all the features.

Making It a Safe and Special Place to Enter

1. How to Use the Website Guide

A savvy internet fashion site has a How to Find your Perfect Dress Guide with illustrations and simple descriptions. A good one uses body part descriptions rather than making you work out your figure shape.

2. Being Able to Set up Your Profile

This saves you time by narrowing down your search for clothes.

3. Common Concerns

These are quick links to special styles or new season looks that might appeal to you like cosy and chic, little black dress, travellers or slimming styles.

4. Best Sellers

We women always like to know what is popular as we may want it too. Best sellers can be best bargain buys as well as most popular.

5. Web Exclusives

Some fashion sites add a more upmarket line of clothes or tell you when you click on an item that it is exclusive to their website. This lifts them from the ordinary to the extraordinary.

6. Styling Advice

A number of websites have live chats with their stylist. Some have a selection of styled outfits that you can peruse and then click to see all the items from that outfit on one page. A great addition is a feature called Styling Tips by Brand which tells you the personality and lifestyle essence of each of the brands that the website offers.

Is This Item for Me?

7. Accurate Sizing

Most fashion websites have general sizing guides and international conversions. When labels create their own sizing, it would be helpful if the website stated whether your item is from a smaller, larger or a normal-sized label. Sometimes you can find this information in the buyer reviews.

8. Full Description

The more information they give you the better, including length in centimetres or inches. Savvy ones include washing instructions.

9. 360 Degree View

The best websites give you 360 degree rotation video as well as front and back zooming. Some do a side view. The more angles the site offers you, the more comfortable and confident you will feel about your purchase.

10. How to Wear It

This is specific styling advice rather than general information. When you click on an item, you are shown one or more ways to wear it. A view with accessories or styling tips gives you ideas on how you can add it to your current wardrobe items.

11. If Not This, Maybe That

Savvy sites show you similar styles as an alternative or an additional purchase. It is like a salesperson with your best interests at heart but no pressure to buy.

12 Reviews

Good websites make space for customer reviews. Read them, especially reviewers who describe the fit, size and quality. Savvy websites reply to review comments. The replies I have seen are standardised and I feel that more personal ones would make you feel more valued. Some sites allow reviewers to add their age bracket, body type, shopping frequency and location.

13. Acknowledging Reviewers

The savviest websites encourages women to be reviewers. They build a loyal tribe by indicating Top Reviewers on the item page as well as having a Meet Our Top Reviewers page.

Delivery and After Sales Service

14. Value for Money

We all want quality items and we know we must pay for that. If the fashion item look good and the price is right, delivery time and shipping costs are the tipping points. Make them reasonable and we will buy, especially from another country.

15. Surprise Me

A little extra here adds the personal touch. Some sites wrap it in special, non-branded paper. I was sent a personalised card with one of my internet fashion purchases. OK, it may have been computer-generated but it looks personal. Savvy websites surprise and acknowledge you.

16. Ease of Return

This is important. It must be easy to return and t no cost to you. Prompt refund of payment is also essential.

Last Words

Women over 40 are computer-literate. We are looking for well-made, modern, stylish clothes and we do compare sites and stores. Make internet shopping safe and easy to use and make us feel a bit special and we will spread the word and return time and time again. Check out these three fashion websites to see some of the above features in action - the American site, Chicos and the Australian sites, Birds Nest and Ezibuy.

Never Give Up Fashion, Ladies

It will be a serious problem if you do not know how to dress yourself properly for some certain occasions. People all hope they can always appear good and fine before others, but we have to admit that women are born with the instinct to accomplish this task, better than men do. Most women may feel that it is their responsibility to look socially acceptable in terms of how they dress. In many cultures, the way how a woman is dressed can convey lots of meanings. When a woman reaches the age of 18, she will be put in as a part of the adult group of the society and then proper dressing among others is regarded as an initial sign. In some certain Asian countries, young ladies turning 18 years old are introduced to the society with what they call as debut party and are dressed in the most grand and most stylish dresses.

But after these intrinsic and celebration, there is the reality for the ladies to face on their own. There may be one day when the lady comes into a corporate world and begin to wear her own corporate uniform. But she should not ignore fashion, since right clothes, shoes, with other proper accessories, will help you a lot to leave a good impression on others which, to some degree, can help you perform better to grasp some important opportunities. One way of dressing yourself in the right way will be turning to the fashion magazines where you can get lots of direct advice on what to put on and how to wear a particular accessory to let it add to your glamour.

In this modern society, you are what you wear. To choose the right fashion style for yourself, you have to take your own figure and lifestyle into consideration. Choosing the right pieces is important, so try not to rush on picking up an item just because it looked rather good on other people. You make sure that the dress does look nice on you and suit your lifestyle.

Another crucial part should be the investment in fashion accessories. Accessories do play a pretty important role. When they are used appropriately, they can make much difference. But one thing to keep in mind is that you do not go for those gaudy and complicated jewelries unless in some special occasions, though many of them may seem rather attractive.

Then get yourself some beautiful bags, especially the designer ones. If you are frightened by the high prices, you can also take the top replica designer handbags as the best substitutes for the originals. And their low prices allow you to buy lots of such fabulous bags.

Although as a professional lady, you may have to wear the corporate uniform everyday, there is no reason for you not to make yourself look a little special compared with your fellow colleagues. And do free yourself from the boring work suits when weekends come. So never give up fashion. And by skipping the buying impulse you are sure to become a wise shopper.

Five Tips for Finding and Using a Style Consultant

What should I wear? This timeless conundrum presents itself to everyone that owns more than one shirt or pair of pants - which is pretty much everyone. For those with the budget and the need to look their best, though, a style consultant or a personal shopper not only makes the process simpler, they offer something of a guarantee their client won't go out of the house wearing a fashion no-no or an outfit inappropriate for any given occasion. A casual stroll through your nearest department store illustrates why - there are so many choices out there, it can immediately be overwhelming and you start to lose confidence in your own taste pretty quickly. Not to mention the risk of wasting a lot of money on the wrong clothes.
How does one go about finding a personal stylist, and how are they best utilized? Here are five tips to keep in mind.

Get started the right way. Many people assume that it costs a lot to hire a style consultant, or it never even occurs to them to use one. Actually there are a number of ways to go about it, and there are stylists to suit virtually any budget. If you are shopping at a major department store, the services of a personal shopper are free. This fact is rarely advertised by the store, but all you have to do is ask for one. They know the stock, and can save both time and money searching through all the racks. You can also look for a professional style consultant unaffiliated with any one store, who "gets" your personal style and will know where to go to find the right pieces. You can do a style consultant search online, comparing stylists by fees and portfolio.

Pick a stylist that feels right. The internet has broadened the ranks of every type of available designer and stylist, to include not just established professionals, but every sort of want to-be out there with a computer. Do your homework, and look for credentials and a strong look book. Be aware there is no accreditation or certificate required to be a personal shopper. Find out where they went to school, what stores or designers they have worked for, and go with one that feels right for your budget and personal style. The time spent in advance getting the right person for your needs is well worth it.

Capitalize on the benefits of using a personal shopper. Using an image consultant isn't just about looking cute on dates or keeping up with fashion trends. You can consider the time and expense of a professional stylist a great investment in your career, too. Your stylist can make you look like a million bucks in the office, or look like you earn it - it's well known that dressing for the job you want instead of the job you have is key to advancement in the workplace. Promotions tend to go to the people who fit well in a company's culture and who present themselves well. And a good stylist knows how to pick pieces that are versatile, that go from office to business meetings, to cocktail hour and evening events. A personal shopper could be a wise investment in your future and your overall time management, not just your closet.

Don't get carried away. If you are using an in-store personal shopper, be aware that may work on commission, so there is always a lingering risk that they may sell you a little more than you actually need. You may sense pressure to buy something, which takes a lot of the fun and confidence out of shopping altogether. Independent stylists, on the other hand, can rack up bills too. They either charge by the hour or a flat fee, and it's easy to get carried away and start running up costs before you know it. Image consultants can charge anywhere from $20 to $300 an hour, with an "average" rate of about $40. Despite these fees however, a good stylist will ultimately save you money by choosing items that you'll actually use and complement what you already own, instead of impulse buys that you never wear. It may be preferable to find someone who works with a flat fee and set clear expectations about quantity of selections & looks at the outset.

Know why you need a professional stylist. This may sound obvious, but you should really know your own motives: Why you are seeking professional help in the fashion department? Do you want to just look your best, find clothes that actually fit, get that promotion, or are you using shopping as therapy? We have all heard about people who get into debt because shopping makes them feel better about themselves or fulfills some emotional need. Try to focus on what is really purposeful, as opposed to reaching out for the clothes rack for a temporary mood elevator. Write down a list of your priorities, and have it with you when you start a conversation with a potential stylist. You may quickly strike up a friendship with your stylist, which is great for having them get to know you and thereby bring out your best style-wise. But they aren't your therapist, and it isn't fair to either of you to make the personal shopping process about your personal problems. It's okay to have "fun" on your list, just don't make it your top priority.

Whether you choose an in-store personal stylist or hire an image consultant outright, know that you are joining the ranks of people who are savvy to certain social truths: It can matter how you look. Your fashion choices can influence who you get to know and where you get to work. Make a wise choice for an image consultant, and it will not only save you time and money in the long run, it will pay off in ways you never imagined before!

Chiropractic Fashion Advice

In today's society, much value is put on the way people look and how they dress. This is not surprising because a person's status is usually equated with their fashion. The belief that the more fashionable a person is, the more he or she earns because designer items are generally very expensive. The Hollywood and MTV fashion mania affirm this notion with celebrities showing off and posing for the cameras wearing designer clothes and shoes. Unfortunately, fashion stylists and designers, in their quest for individualism and unique styles, often create looks that are attractive but neither comfortable nor practical. Women, more than men, are the usual victims of fashion trends. Statistics show that more women are willing to sacrifice comfort for the sake of looking fashionable. This is the problem according to Dr. Jerome McAndrews, the ACA's spokesperson, because tight clothes and high heels disrupt the body's balance and cause muscle strains. Practitioners of chiropractic medicine also agree since most of the complaints of their female patients are not caused by sports but by excessive wearing of uncomfortable clothes and shoes.

A chiropractic fashion no-no that both men and women are guilty of is the use of big bags. Bags that are too heavy disrupt the natural movement of the body especially when slung over one shoulder for long periods of time. Even the simple and seemingly harmless act of putting wallets in the pants' back pockets is also bad. Chiropractic medicine principle states that these can cause undue strain and pressure on the lower back muscles. Chiropractors agree that as important looking fashionable is, the body's health is too big a sacrifice.

Doctors of chiropractic medicine do not want to cramp people's styles, so the ACA offers guidelines to looking fashionable AND comfortable. For women who must wear high heels, they advise bringing and changing into flats in the privacy of their offices or for times that their feet feel tired. Using flats for walking and changing into heels upon reaching the office is also an option. Wearing supportive shoes and more stable heels like stacked heels is also advised since the body won't need to exert as much effort to balance unlike when wearing designer spikes. Too tight clothes are not good because they restrict the natural movement of the body. Instead the ACA advises to wear clothes with some stretch; these will be form-fitting but not restrictive. It is also important to take unnecessary items out of bags to reduce weight. Bringing laptops is not necessary if the office is equipped with computers. However, if big bags are really necessary, it is advised to sling it over the head and across the body so the weight is distributed evenly. If this is not possible, switching shoulders often is the next best option. Taking out wallets and cardholders out of back pockets is advised before sitting for a long time such as in traveling or driving.

Being attuned to the body's responses is very important according to the ACA. It is also one of the most basic principles of chiropractic medicine. One vital aspect of being fashionable and comfortable is maintaining healthy judgement.

How to Work the Pleats Fashion Trend

If your memories of pleated skirts take you back to the horrors of school uniforms and gymslips then it's time to stand corrected. Pleats are back in fashion for Spring Summer 2011 and they are definitely nothing like the frumpy styles you were forced to wear as a child! It's a really easy trend to wear; perfect for incorporating into daywear or office outfits, yet very ladylike and elegant for evenings too. There are many different styles coming back into fashion - follow our advice guide to make sure you get it right. One thing you'll notice though, is that all the styles are used for the full circumference of the garment - a single pleat at the front or back of the skirt is not fashionable.

Sunray

Sunray pleats are neat, narrow pleats, that radiate outwards like the rays of the sun at the edge of the garment where it gets fuller. They are usually used on lightweight fabrics such as chiffon and give soft and flexible movement as opposed to being stiff. The sunray folding technique is most often featured on skirts and dresses to add volume. The look fits beautifully with the seventies fashion trend that's back in a big way this season, yet also gives a subtle nod to ballerina style, as inspired by the year's film smash, Black Swan. For a different, yet still seventies-style take on the trend, sunray pleats can be used on large voluminous bell sleeves on tops and dresses. A variation on this style of pleat is the straight, narrow pleat, which is the same in all respects except that the folds are equidistant all the way down. This style, once very retro, is now back in vogue and gives a less voluminous look to skirts and dresses compared to the sunray style.

Structured

If the sunray look is a little too retro or feminine for you, you may prefer a more structured style, with wider, boxy, knife-edge pleats. This gives a very neat and crisp look, which is perfect for the office. A structured, pleated skirt is very versatile. Team with a jacket or blazer for a very smart look or soften your appearance with a ladylike blouse or cardigan. It's not just skirts that look great in this style - full-skirted Macs and trench coats also look fabulous. Look for pieces where the inside of the pleat is a contrasting colour to really emphasise the trend.

Soft

A great middle ground between the sunray and the structured look is a relaxed, informal pleat. This is perfect for casual summer skirts and dresses. When choosing a skirt, look for styles that start right at the narrowest point of your waist to emphasise your curves and finish the look with a skinny belt for seventies chic. Maxi dresses look set to stay in style for some time to come, and are now joined by their fashion sister, the maxi skirt. Give the maxi dress an in-season update by choosing a gently pleated style; gorgeous with toe post sandals for your holidays.

Horizontal

Horizontal pleats give a striking look to tops and dresses. Keep the style very simple to avoid a fussy look as the texture of the pleating will already add a lot of interest. Try a bandage style body-con dress to emphasise an hourglass figure for a striking evening look. Diagonal textural pleating to tops gives a quirky, fashion-forward look that will show you've really captured this versatile trend.

Trendy Men's Fashion Tips

Looking good means more than having a fit, cut body. It also means possessing a style that's all your own. Mens fashion can be everlasting using permanent and classic styles. Men's fashion and style interest men more today than ever as they realize that looking good is an asset in every aspect of their lives: business, personal, or social. Some men feel confident enough to do this for themselves; for those who are less confident an image consultant can be employed to give help and advice.

If the look is perfect on the runway, that doesn't mean that it's perfect for you as a complete copy. While you should use designer's best trends to guide your look and give it some style, mix-and-match your basics.

Use your favorites from seasons before for a more affordable style that's completely on-trend. Men's interview dressing has been fairly static over the years. Many men want fashion freedom, but what they want to wear is a big step from what they wear daily today. It is best to start slowly and build up to total fashion freedom.

Don't be a slave to flashy branding. Your clothes can have more defined style without necessarily having a logo on them, and when your pieces are subtly stylish, you can wear them more often. This is essential for those of us who tend to hang onto our favorite pair of jeans. A good collection of basics will help you highlight major fashion finds, and can give your trendy pieces more polished style.

A fashion victim is someone who wants to follow all the latest men's fashion trends regardless of whether they suit his body shape, looks, or age. If you love fashion, that doesn't mean you need to layer on the accessories. Choose a simple pair of shades, a man bag and a great pair of shoes to round out your wardrobe. There's no need for a watch, bracelets and necklaces worn all together. Don't try and make so much of an effort to look fashionable that you end up overdoing it. Keep a good balance of basic and fashionable clothes in your wardrobe. As a rule of thumb, not more than half of your wardrobe should consist of trendy clothes, or worse, clothes that are out of style. Dress to impress for business or pleasure with men's fashion tips from Men's Fitness.

Men Fashion Tips

1. Wear what you think looks good, not what others believe is trendy.

2. Don't try and make so much of an effort to look fashionable that you end up overdoing it.

3. Keep a good balance of basic and fashionable clothes in your wardrobe.

4. Don't base your look solely on what you see in magazines and on TV.

5. Using the right shampoo will help reduce hair loss and improve the look of any hairstyle.

How to Style a Pair of Men's Skinny Jeans

Every man should have a pair of skinny jeans. They are a wardrobe staple that can take you from day to evening. But how you may ask? Here are a few styling suggestions.

Different Styles and Shapes

Skinny jeans aren't as straightforward as you'd think... If you pop into a specialist jean shop, or even just your regular high street go-to for clothes, the sales staff will question you about the kind of skinny jeans you're after. Ever heard the terms cigarette jeans and drainpipe jeans? Well, the former are a style of jeans that are so tight they seem almost painted on. They are tight from top to bottom with now flair. This style is known to be popular within the "punk" community. The latter, however, is tight until the lower leg where, instead of tapering, the fit is straight and so often baggier at the bottom. There are other styles, such as the stovepipe and pegs but these don't differ dramatically.

Work Outfits

Depending on the office and the industry, jeans are now often an acceptable choice of outfit, provided they're not ripped, bleached or covered in logos ("new" industries, such as the media are more accepting towards the jeans trend). It's generally thought that dark denim or very light denim are the most appropriate tones for an office.

At work, style your jeans with a smart-casual checked shirt or polo shirt. These are comfortable choices that add a touch of professionalism to your look. Instead of trainers, wear a pair of leather brogue-style shoes. For chillier weather, throw on a knitted cardigan or jumper for a modern retro look that will score many cool points. You can also substitute the cardigan with a blazer for a more sophisticated look. You'd be surprised how good it looks teamed with a pair of jeans.

Casual Outfits

Tight-fitting jeans are the ultimate wardrobe essential for casual occasions. As such a versatile item, they look great thrown together with pretty much anything. For a striking look, choose a T-shirt with a graphic image or words printed on it. Add funky accessories like a leather belt and vintage look trainers or a pair of leather shoes. For a slouchy look wear a snood or scarf. Top off the look with an edgy leather jacket if you find it's cold outside, or just reach for your trusty knitted jumper or cardigan again. Scottish or Nordic woolen jumpers look fantastic paired with skinny jeans.

Evening Outfits

While you won't get away with wearing jeans to a formal occasion, you can still wear them to most bars, clubs and other social hotspots like art galleries. Team a pair of mens skinny jeans with a crisp, long-sleeved classic shirt and accessorise with a bow tie. Invest in a smart blazer to throw on, and a pair of patent shoes. The look is sexy and adheres well to the modern geek chic trend.

Ladies Shoes - Style Or Comfort?

If you had to choose a shoe based on comfort or style, you would choose style, right?! So would just about every other woman out there. You definitely wouldn't wear your comfy old walking shoes to a dressy dinner date!

Why is it more important for women to look good rather than to be comfortable? The answer is simple... most of us are willing to take the discomfort when we know that we look fabulous. Looking good helps us feel better about ourselves, thus giving us greater confidence. Having that self confidence and aura attracts people to us. And that's exactly what we want, to be noticed, right?

Let's face it. We have all had those days where we haven't felt so "cute". Whether it's the frizzy hair or the clumpy mascara, going out in public with that feeling of "I just don't look good" can put a damper on your day.

So how can we overcome these insecurities? It's plain and simple; we just have to look good. Even with that "not so cute" feeling, complementing a fantastic outfit with the perfect shoes will make you feel better. Why waste those precious hours in front of the mirror by throwing on any old pair of cheap shoes? Remember, no outfit is complete without the ideal pair of shoes.

Better yet, if what you're wearing looks amazing, people won't notice anything else. For example, a girl walks by and you sub-consciously critique her attire. If she was wearing fabulous shoes, you wouldn't even notice her hair or make-up. Your only thought would be, "Where did she get those shoes?" NOT, "I wonder if those shoes are comfortable."

So when should comfort trump fashion? Fashionable shoes are a must when you are trying to impress. There is nothing worse than having your shoes ruin a great outfit. Whether it's a hot date or just a trip to the mall, dress to impress! There is always time to relax around the house in those comfy slippers or tennis shoes. Unless you're going to the gym or on a hike, fashion should come first.

Let's be honest, it's not always possible to find women's shoes that are both fashionable and comfortable. Take Paris Hilton's advice and, "Dress cute wherever you go, life is too short to blend in."

The Importance of Fashion Training

If you have a natural knack for fashion and you have are often asked by others to impart fashion advice then chances are that you are interested in pursuing a career in the fashion industry. However, most people aren't aware that many aspiring fashion designers, personal shoppers or beauty stylists do not have a natural tendency for fashion but they have hidden talent and are ready to put in hard work. If you are a natural fashion expert or if you have a hidden talent that you would like to work upon then fashion training institutes can help you develop your fashion skills, interpersonal skills and communication skills. Listed below are a few facts about the importance of fashion training.

Fashion training can ensure that you succeed in your future career and that you learn the right way to make people look and feel good. Training courses often teach students colour schemes, how to match colours, how to match clothes, how to match accessories such as shoes or necklaces and how to match certain accessories around the house with costumes. These courses may also teach students how to apply cosmetics, which shades to choose for a particular type of skin colour and which clothes to choose for a particular type of body type or height.

Good fashion training can make all the difference and help an aspiring fashion professional reach his very best. There are many training programs meant to help aspiring models and the proper training can make an aspiring stylist succeed. The trainings offered to students range from 1 day - 5 days and most students opt for short term courses since they are easier and faster to complete.

Good training institutes concentrate on three important modules that are hands on experience or practical training, class room training and communication training. Since each of these modules is equally important, good fashion training institutes spend a day or more on each module. Students may also be taught people skills, interpersonal skills and networking skills in course of the training program.

Remember, although you may be a fashion expert in your own group, helping clients look their best involves more than choosing a few accessories and throwing the together to make an outfit. Fashion training allows you to learn all there is about the fashion industry and these courses offer accreditations and certificates through which you can get a job or start your own fashion consultancy. Many training courses also offer internships or opportunities to apply for jobs with prestigious clients. Training can not only bring out the best in you but it can also help the world see, your hidden talents.

Staying Fashionable And Stylish As You Grow Older

No matter what age we are there is always a time in our life that we want to look our very best. Granted the older we get the less these times are as we feel less pressure to be at the cutting edge of fashion and style. But, there are still occasions when we like to put a little style and effort into being ourselves, more to show the world that we can still do it rather than showing the world how it is done. As we will have all seen through our own eyes our parents were the last people on the planet that we would have taken fashion advise from when we were growing up, I am sure that we have all been embarrassed by our parents fashion style when we were growing up, vowing never to make the same mistakes that they made when we grew up. As we ourselves grow older and fashion becomes less about trying to influence the world in what we wear and how we style ourselves but more about dressing in a style and fashion that we are comfortable in, not necessarily with the intention of embarrassing the kids.

Unlike the generation that our parents grew up in our generation is bombarded by advice and influences from such areas of the media as the television and from magazines so we are more aware than ever of what we should be wearing to be seen to be fashionable. The snag with all of this is that if you are aging and appear to be wearing all the latest fashions which maybe designed for a slightly younger generation you can appear to be someone trying to hang on to last throws of their youth in a very desperate manner. As you get older the trick with fashion is to try to blend in some new more fashionable items of clothing in with garment s that people recognize as more from your own generation and style, this way you can appear both stylish and keep your dignity.

A simple way to add a touch of style to any outfit that you choose to wear, whether it be at the cutting edge of fashion or just your own interpretation of fashion is to add accessories to your dress. Many items such as handbags, scarves, belts, hats and sunglasses are seen as luxury items in the fashion world and can be used to add a touch of style and value to any outfit that you are wearing. Of course the same rules apply with accessories as with any fashion item, it should match and compliment the rest of your outfit.

Sunglasses are a sure fire way of adding a touch of style and elegance to any outfit. We have all seen images of Italian ladies and gentlemen looking like style personified taking an evening stroll arm in arm and wearing sunglasses that look a million dollars.

Sunglasses create an aurora that is hard to be beaten by any other fashion accessory, a good set of stylish eyewear [http://www.sports-shades.com/Eyewear/Eyewear/Eyewear] sunglasses can go a long way to make an ordinary outfit look like an extra special outfit. Good quality designer sunglasses are hard to beat but there are so many cheaper makes on the market that are affordable and offer the same good look as the more costly options available. If you cannot afford a pair of the more expensive brands then do not be afraid to go for a more affordable make, they will still add more than a subtle touch of refinement to your look, which is more than I could ever say about my parents dress sense.

Spring 2009 Fashion Trends For the Plus Size Woman

If you are a Curvy Fashionista, then you are already looking to what is going to be HOT for Spring 2009. As we look through all the "Fashion magazines" and top "Fashion websites", while shown on our straight sized sisters, trends for spring are looking fabulous and are so wearable for YOU. While some of the trends may be a bit over the top, us plus size women can sport these trends and wear them with style!

With the help of Fashionising, I have highlighted and tweaked the hottest Fashion trends for the spring that allow for your "Style to define your Curves!" As each designer launches their Spring's line, make sure you subscribe to see how this translates to your curvy frame! In addition, keep posted for the Spring's Accessories trend watch!

Here is an overview of these trends:

1. Sexy Sheer and See Through Sheer fabric is back in full force as one of 2009 fashion trends. Spring's sheer pieces range from a mixture of soft and feminine, to the opposite of the downright sexy. While it may sound intimidating, this trend does not mean tight, see-through tops, and dresses many times associated with lingerie. This season represents sheer fabrics used in the most elegant and creative ways from layers to amazing draping.  So, for Spring, be daring and bold in sheer and see-through trend to keep you demure and flirty.

2. One Shoulder Wonders Splashed all over the runways and a continuation from the Fall is the one shoulder wonder! From single-shouldered dresses to tops and bikinis, the one shoulder wonder is interpreted within almost every Spring fashion trend.  For the confident woman, your legs and breasts are often the highlight of your outfit, but if neither is your strongest feature or you desire something a little less obvious but equally tantalizing, show off your shoulders and treat your curves to the one-shoulder trend. Do not forget your perfect foundations that will enhance and allow your curves the proper support!

3. Fringe and Flow A trend revitalized from the Fall of 2008 was the fringe and flow trend. Dominant on almost every runway, Fringing was shown modern and sleek or silken and feminine. Fringed dresses in particular should be on every curvy fashionista's to-buy list this season. Because fringing can easily look costume like, the item you choose to wear must be strategic. If you have amazing legs, aim for a short fringed skirt. If you have great toned arms, go for an amazing dress or top. One word of advice, pay careful attention to buying quality fabrics that shimmy, shine, and drape well. Avoid those that gather and bunch together. This is not a good look for anyone!

4. Greek Goddesses If you were to mix the sheer, fringed, and one should trend together, you would easily find this trend entwined all over the fashion runways. This trend works well as both a maxi-dress or as a short little one. Thanks to this trend, this is definitely one that all divas can flaunt their curves in. Again, because of the flow of the fabric in this trend, a Fashionista must be careful in the quality of fabric chosen to work this look. The wrong fabric can cheapen the look, or cause the outfit not to fit well.

5. Swimwear With Spring's bathing suits, all you curvy fashionistas are going to show up fashionably styled, thanks to the amazing trends! What swimwear pieces are hot? Any suit fashioned with the year's one shoulder fashion trend, cut away pieces, or one encrusted in another trend- jewels. Whether you head to the pool or the beach to swim, tan, or socialize, Spring's swimwear and its accessories will allow you to be the Curvy.Confident.Chic. Diva we all crave to be. Not sure what to accompany your amazing swimsuit? Anything sheer!

6. Dangerous Curvy Cutaways Not for the shy or demure Curvy Divas, the cutaway fashion trend showcases and highlights the female figure in a sexual and sensual fashion. From the classic keyhole feature on the back or chest to the downright sexy and revealing, cutaways find itself on the maxi dresses to swimwear.  For the Confident and Chic diva, pay careful attention to where and how the cutout is placed. With strategic placement, YOU can be fashionable and chic!

7. Enviable Encrusted Jewels Gracing the runway were frocks adorned in precious stones, glass, and crystals. This trend did not discriminate to any specific item. This trend found itself on evening gowns, jackets, day-dresses and accessories. This season's trend is brighter, bolder, and more elegant than seasons past. With no shame and definitely not your mother's or grandmother's sequins you remember, expect to find pieces that are not just embellished as a highlight, but completely encrusted by jewels.  For you, each jewel-studded piece should be a statement of its own. No need to accessorize your outfit let it stand out on its own.

Now while there are many more trends that you are sure to see around, these seven are the ones that YOU, a Curvy.Confident.Chic. diva can wear with ease and panache! Should any more trends pop up, be sure to subscribe to stay tuned for which curvy designers are going to be highlighting these trends in their Spring Collections.

Keep it Curvy!

Are Fashion Magazines Really Necessary And Are They Worth The Money We Spend On Them?

Let's face it we are all at one time or another looking to improve or change our appearance and build on our Find our sense of fashion? If you are one of us, which I am sure you are then you probably have purchased fashion magazines at some point in your life. Some of us have purchased these more than others. A large number of you purchase fashion magazines each month and some of you on occasion will purchase these weekly. It could be because these marvelous little jewels are chalked full of beauty tips, fashion advice and tips. So I suppose you are asking yourself should I be purchasing these Fashion Magazines.

Well I suppose there are considerations to take into effect as with everything but you really have nothing to loose. Now if you are on a budget then that would be one of those considerations, however, fashion magazines are pretty affordable, yet the cost could add up. If you have a place in your budget listed as entertainment you could add your Fashion Magazines there, or you could pick one up when your out and find a couple of bucks to spare and TREAT yourself. As with the latest fashion trends it could also add up keeping up with the trends in the fashion magazines.

Now another consideration in buying Fashion Magazines is to determine if you have the internet. Do you have internet access? Well if so, a large number of these fashion magazines can be found online. It is great to see these online because the information found in them is the same and often you will find more to read about and more pictures to look at. You may even prefer to have both. Just keep in mind that as most of these sites are free there are a few that ask you to pay a small fee.

So what types of fashion are you most interested in learning more about? Well if you are not sure, there are modern fashion trends, 80s trends, gothic, and so forth. Unfortunately, most printed fashion magazines only focus on one or two types of fashions and they are often the ones that are most popular at the moment. If you are looking for fashion tips, advice, and information on trends from other eras, aside from today, you may actually not find what you are looking for in a fashion magazine. To determine if so, you may want to think about at least skimming through a fashion magazine before buying it.

Lastly the many considerations you take into heart when trying to determine these magazines are really worth your money is to determine how you will use them. There are many of you that purchase and even keep your fashion magazines around to review over and over and then again, others read them and discard them or toss them aside. Now these magazines are so affordable really but they can add up on you quickly so be selective and remember you can save yourself money by finding the same information online.

We spoke about how fashion magazines are a great source for learning about today's fashion trends, but there are other sources out there. Yes the internet is one source to finding that perfect fashion magazine that suits you best, but also the television is a popular source as well.

How to Follow Your Own Fashion Advice

When you feel a little wobbly in the world of fashion, it's hard to know how to proceed in putting together a wardrobe that's uniquely you.

You may be tempted to just give up. But, if you do, that's the message you'll be sending to the world. "I give up on dressing." And people will wonder what else you've given up on. Doing a good job? Caring about other people? Paying attention to details?

We tend to assume that the outer person reflects the inner person, whether it's true or not. So, if you care about what your appearance is saying about you, it's critical to learn how to create the style and wardrobe that tells the world who you truly are. Here are some things to consider:

Which colors make you come alive and which make you fade into the surroundings?

This process calls for comparison. Compare reds with other reds. Blues with blues. Greens with greens. Comparing a red top with a green one won't give you the information you want. Note if brown or black is better on you. Can you really do stark full spectrum white, or is off-white the winner?

Check out styles.

You're looking for clothes that make your body look balanced. That means your shoulders and hips look about the same width. Your legs and torso look about the same length. If you weren't born with a balanced body, clothes can give you the illusion of balance. Is your neck a little short? What makes it look longer? Don't have a waist? Create one or camouflage it.

Take a couple of hours to do the following experiment: Go clothes "looking" by yourself.

This is not a shopping trip. It's a play date on your own. You're going to try to understand what works and what doesn't. You're not going to buy anything. Choose some clothes you love the looks of and try them on in the dressing room. Don't even pay attention to price. But really pay attention to what looks great, what looks mediocre, what looks truly awful.

Don't listen to the salespeople. Listen only to yourself.

There's no pressure because you won't be spending any money. In fact, if YOU recognize that something looks absolutely fabulous on you, fills a need in your wardrobe, and you can afford it, you can put it on hold and dream about it overnight. But this is a day to avoid impulsiveness that you might regret. You want to stay open to the process, so you'll want to do it again.

Give yourself a time limit and stick to it.

Just do this as long as it's fun or interesting to you. You're simply educating yourself. And, please don't get discouraged if you don't find anything you think looks wonderful. Sometimes there will be tons of clothes in the stores that suit you and sometimes there won't be many. Just make some notes about what you've learned, and keep them as a reference. You're building a portfolio of information about you.

Do this experiment a few times and you'll have a better understanding of what you want in your closet and on your body.

You'll start feeling great in your clothes because they work for you, and that will reflect in your attitude and behavior. Don't believe that? Just try it. You've got nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Confident Teenage Style - Tips And Advice For Girls

Introduction

One of the most important aspects of being a teenage girl is the feeling that she fits in, dresses well, looks right and is part of her peer group. For lots of girls this can be a tricky time if they lack confidence and don't yet feel comfortable in their own skin, as so many teenage girls don't. Instead of focusing on themselves and where to make improvements girls look to the people around them for inspiration, acceptance and direction in how to dress.

Most high street fashion, particularly teenage fashion, is designed for ultra slim, waif like bodies. This can be great for the girl who is a size 6. She can happily copy her friends' style and pull it off. But not every girl who is slender and willowy will feel confident with their body- some just want curves. And the girl whose shape and build is rather more curvy, doesn't suit mini skirts, leggings worn with cropped tops or harem pants- but they don't know what else to wear.

The following guide will help your daughter make the right style decisions so that she fits in, feels confident and stays on trend. Two or three neutral colours and one or two accent colours that all work well together will help make these basics work well together, mix and match and be added to along the way.

From here some additions can be made:

  • Tailored trousers for either day or night
  • 2-3 tee shirts with prints or slogans
  • Denim jacket
  • Skirt or shorts
  • Belts
  • Scarves
  • Jewellery, headbands, hats

Dressing For Her Body Shape

When someone looks good in their clothes it's because they enjoy wearing them and appear comfortable, relaxed and confident. It's very important for teenage girls to feel comfortable in and to like their clothes so she needs to wear clothes that fit well and are the right cut for her body shape. The way to do this is to create a balanced silhouette.

First you ascertain her shape. There are one of two ways to do this: if your daughter is happy enough with her overall size, get her to look in the mirror either in her underwear or something very slim fitting that shows her shape and proportions. If she is extremely unhappy with her body it might be advisable to do this by being more discreet.

Have a look at her shoulders, bust, waist and hips.

Hourglass Shoulders in line with hips, curved bust, defined waist

Pear Hips wider than shoulders, small bust, defined waist

Inverted Triangle Shoulders wider than hips, small bust, no waist

Apple Shoulders in line with hips, full bust, full tummy, no waist

Lean Column Shoulders in line with hips, small bust, no waist

In order to create a balanced silhouette you should follow these simple principles:

  • Create interest and add detail to smaller shoulders to balance wider hips
  • Create interest and add detail to smaller hips to balance broader shoulders
  • Don't add bulk and layers to larger areas
  • Don't wear oversized clothes to hide problem areas

And here's how to do it:

Hourglass Choose shaped and fitted lines that follow her body's line

  • Follow her body's line - choose clothes that define her waist, enhance her bust and highlight her hips and bottom
  • This is the classic feminine shape and is the most flexible when it comes to wearing different styles and shapes in clothing

Avoid:

  • Any styles and shapes that hide your body shape. They will add extra volume to your waist

Inverted Triangle On her bottom half she should wear clothes that make her hips look broader

  • Keep details or anything that adds volume to her lower half eg hip belts, hip pockets or full skirts
  • Keep her top half clean and uncluttered

Avoid:

  • Necklines that broaden her top top e.g. wide necks, halter necks, big collars
  • Styles that extend or accentuate shoulders e.g. puff sleeves, shoulder pads
  • Patterns on top, scarves around her neck or shoulders
  • Narrowing hemlines e.g. pencil skirts or skinny jeans

Lean Column Create the illusion of curves around the hips, bust and of a waist

  • Use layering to shorten her long top half
  • Create fullness around her extremities e.g. bubble hems, sleeves, turn up legs, scarves at the neckline
  • Wear high or low waisted styles - broad shoulders; unfitted jackets, which slope to the waist; highlight your hips and bottom using pockets and pleats
  • Avoid:
  • Figure-hugging garments
  • Long straight fitted lines in. dresses, trousers and sleeves
  • Tops or dresses with square necklines
  • Shapeless jackets; loose or droopy styles that hang from the shoulders
  • Dropped waistlines
  • Bulky, heavy textures
  • Double breasted jackets

Apple Follow her bodyline - avoid details around bust, tummy and hips. Keep detail around shoulders

  • Keep the clothing line straight to slightly fitted, but fabric soft so you avoid unnecessary bulk around the bosom, waist and tummy
  • Keep details above the bust line and below the hip line - for everything in between keep it plain and simple
  • The shoulders need attention so you should balance them from the front and side views
  • Keep your silhouette fitted under bust and as well below your arms and along your waist
  • Splits at waist works wonder

Avoid:

  • Wearing belts whether big or small
  • Sleeves which finish next to her bust
  • Any details, fuss and volume near bust, tummy or hip area e.g. no lapels, double breasted coats or jackets, high-waisted trousers or waistbands
  • Skirts above knee length
  • Clothing that finishes at her fullest points e.g. cropped tops or jackets
  • Excessive fabric in the mid section
  • Gathered or tiered skirts, gathered trousers around the waist

Pear Balance her top half with her hips with clothes that make her shoulders look broader and bust bigger

  • Jackets and tops need to finish either above or below the widest point of her hips and bottom
  • Layering on her top half creates visual interest and draws the eye upwards
  • Volume, clutter, pattern, colour should be worn on top, so hips and thighs will seem narrower
  • Fitted styles around her waist and accentuation of her waistline is great e.g. empire line, wraps
  • Make her shoulders look broader with shoulder pads, puff sleeves or cap sleeve tee

Avoid:

  • Narrowing leg, pleats or creases in the leg line, turn-up trousers, wide or flared legs
  • Details, patterns, pockets or belts on thigh or hip area
  • Straight or pencil skirts
  • Bags that sit on her hips
  • Mini skirts or any other hemline that finishes on her hips, thighs or any other full area
  • Sloping or narrow shoulder lines

Getting The Right Fit

The most important aspect of choosing clothes once you know her body shape is the fit. This doesn't just mean whether a size is too big or small. It's about knowing how something should sit on the body and frame it in a flattering and comfortable way.

Here are the key aspects that can mean the difference between something fitting well and fitting badly

  • When clothes are too small or tight they will dig into the body, sit incorrectly, pucker, make her feel uncomfortable and look wrong
  • When clothes are too big they will add inches to her silhouette. They won't 'hide' problem areas, they will make her look generally larger than she is
  • Jackets Armholes should not be too tight. A size bigger for outerwear is often needed especially if it's a winter coat and will be worn with several layers underneath
  • Sleeve length The sleeve hem should 'sit' where the thumb joins the hand. It's surprising what a huge difference it makes when sleeves are too long.
  • Trouser/ jean length Trousers and jeans are cut too long these days so it's well worth paying £15 for an alteration if it means something being just right afterwards. A tip- make sure you wash jeans first as the shrinkage in denim can be quite high
  • Waistbands on jeans, trousers and skirts shouldn't gape when sitting down. A belt should not be needed to hold up trousers, jeans or a skirt, except as an accessory. If a belt is needed the waistband is too big.
  • Bottoms and hips on fitted styles shouldn't have masses of excess fabric over them. The fabric should rest gently on the hips and bottom allowing for a small amount of movement, even in skinny jeans. Anything more than this will look wrong.

Colour And Print

Getting your teenager to wear the right colours for her is another way to boost her confidence. Dressing well means looking as put together as possible. As well as choosing garments that work well together it's important to get a colour palette that compliments both her and the rest of her wardrobe.

To see if a colour suits your daughter, hold it up to her face, in as natural or bright light as possible and see if it lifts her skin and makes her glow. When a colour works, the whites of the eyes will appear brighter. When it doesn't, dark shadows appear under the eyes and the skin appears sallow. It's worth comparing similar shades one after the other, as despite looking very similar, shades can be very different.

Colour guidelines:

  • A good wardrobe should be based around two or three neutrals and a few accent colours.
  • Neutrals could be grey, navy, brown, khaki, beige, cream, white and of course black. Black is can be draining on many people though it is often a favourite. Try and introduce other neutrals into the palette
  • Accents can be any brights, pastels or neons. They can take the form of print such as floral or stripes; slogans or images on tee shirts. Colour can also be added in vests, scarves, jewellery, belts, bags, shoes and hairpieces.
  • Wearing colours together: three colours generally look good in an outfit. Any more can look messy. For example blue jeans, pale grey vest, dark grey cardigan, red scarf, mid grey bag.

Print guidelines:

  • Small prints e.g. small florals, polka dots, thin stripes look best on petite bodies and smaller girls
  • Large prints e.g. bold florals, big abstract prints, large geometric patterns look best on taller girls
  • Pick prints with her accent colours
  • Tall girls look best in smaller areas of print- wearing print head to toe can look too much
  • Smaller girls can pull of wearing both large and small areas of print

Putting It All Together

When it comes to clothes, at the top of nearly every teenage girl's list is her desire to dress like her friends. But if the cuts, styles and colours favoured by her peer group are wrong for her body shape, causing her lack of confidence to sky-rocket, what do you do?

When you have a better idea of the shapes that suit her, you'll know what sorts of items to avoid. But don't focus on what not to wear, concentrate instead on what it's great for her to wear. Once you have her basics, turn the exercise around to something fun. A bit of styling. Get her involved. Make her feel as though she's doing the choosing.

Accessories are a fantastic, cost effective way for her to keep in with her peer group and to experiment with the latest trends without being in too much danger of dressing head to toe in pieces totally unsuited to her shape.

  • Jewellery Every girl loves some sort of jewellery. Some go for necklaces, pendants and chains, some love bracelets and bangles, some adore rings others go for earrings
  • Scarves
  • Hats flat caps, trilbies, berets, wide brimmed hats, beanies
  • Hair wear headbands, bows, ribbons and clips
  • Bags
  • Belts

Layering is really a fancy word for putting outfits together. Any garment worn under or over another is layering. The key to layering well (once you're aware of the right styles and colours to wear) is to be careful with the weight of each fabric. Basically, start with the lightest weight closest to skin such as a camisole and build from there. The more layers, the lighter weight they should be so avoid teaming a very chunky knit cardigan over more than one layer. Be careful with rounder, larger body shapes and make sure the under layers are closer fitting rather than flowing and drapey otherwise it will add inches. Experiment with longer camisoles or tops peeking out at the hems of outer layers. This is where flashes of colour and print can come into their own. Mixing fabric textures such as sheen with matt, woolly with shiny and leather with wool all add lovely touches to basic garments.

Shopping If there's any way that she can be encouraged to shop with you rather with her friends, this is ideal though perhaps tough to impose.

Research If you can encourage your daughter to research looks, ideas and styles she likes herself. When left to our own devices we are often instinctively drawn to what we like because it's right for us. Without the distraction of her peer group, she might just find things she loves rather than the things she thinks she should love.

Budget

One of the beauties of the high street is the huge range of price points available. Whatever your budget, there will be something for you but you do not need to spend a lot of money on a teenage girl's wardrobe. In fact is perhaps wise not to.

  • A young girl's body shape, size and height can all change dramatically. While something fits her in May, she may have outgrown it by August.
  • The majority of young girls care little for the details, fabric and workmanship that's gone into a garment in the same way adults. It's likely that she won't look after her clothes in a way that prolongs their lifespan.
  • Teenagers don't mind about quality in the same way adults do so cheaper fabrics will probably not be an issue for her.

Brands are a different issue and her desire for a particular label may depend on her peer group. If she is set on premium high street or designer labels there are many places to source items for cheaper than the shop price such as ebay and Brand Alley

Designer Fashions - Don't Forget To Shop The Net

You don't have to travel to Rodeo Drive or the rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré to dress in high style. Nor, do you have to have unlimited funds. Smart fashionistas find designer deals in the world's most convenient shopping district - the Internet.

Before embarking on a bargain hunt, take an inventory of your closet. Think about the clothing you need for your lifestyle. Are there any items that you need in order to complete your wardrobe? If so, give these top priority when shopping.

Next, take note of what's in style. The net offers a myriad of fashion blogs, which offer advice from fashion devotees and industry insiders. No matter what your style or your budget, you're sure to find a site you will enjoy. Two popular choices are The Budget Fashionista and the Sartorialist. There are also blogs, such as the Purse Blog, which are devoted to accessories.

Moreover, fashion magazines, design houses, and cosmetic companies generally have a presence on the web. These sites are great sources of information about style and beauty.

Once you've perused the latest fashion news and you've jotted down a list of needs, it's time to scout for designer fashions. A good place to start is Gonicofish.com, a free resource that connects shoppers with the best prices, discounts, and coupon codes from over 1,000 carefully selected merchants.

"I love working with Fortune 500 companies and quality boutiques to bring shoppers savings online," says Gina Bassman, the company's founder and CEO.

Recently, Gonicofish.com partnered with SmartBargains to bring consumers savings on Lilly Pulitzer flats, as well as men's loafers from Tommy Bahama. Among the many fashion offerings at Gonicofish.com are savings from items at Anthropologie, Armani Exchange, Bluefly.com, Brooks Brothers, Liz Claiborne, Palm Beach Jewelry, Nordstrom's, and Macy's.

When hunting for designer deals, look for printable coupons and coupon codes. Consumers can take printable coupons to brick-and-mortar stores to obtain discounts. Coupon codes, on the other hand, are used when making purchases online. Shoppers simply type the promotional codes into a special place on a merchant's shopping cart.

You can find coupons at sites such as Gonicofish.com or Coupon Cabin. Look for a free coupon resource which updates its lists on at least a monthly basis. Otherwise, you may find yourself wading through a number of disorganized, outdated offers in order to find the one current deal.

Also, learn about fashion and sale cycles in the fashion industry, as well in the Internet world. Designers and clothing manufacturers are always thinking at least one season ahead of the actual calendar year. Take advantage of both monthly and seaonal sales.

Be aware, however, that some items which are on their way out of style make their way into both store sale racks and online sale offerings. This is where the fashion research you did before shopping pays off. You'll be able to recognize which items you'll enjoy wearing for some time, and which ones to pass by.

You are generally safe if you buy classic items. The cut of classic fashion basics tends to change over a slower cycle than trendier items do. If you enjoy trends, look for deep discounts on one or two items in this season's hottest color style. You can pair these with your wardrobe basics to obtain a cutting edge fashion statement.

Are you ready to put a little style in your life, and save money to boot? Take advantage of the Internet.

Bedroom Fashions for Newly-Wedded Couples

Bedroom fashions for newly wedded couples take some major compromise unless one of the members of the couple could care less! And, that is not usually the case so couples must consider whether they want a full size captain bed or a captions bed or perhaps if adjustable linens would be something they are interested in. There are a lot of current styles for newly wedded couples to consider when it comes to bedroom fashions and there are some tips as well to help make the purchase go as smoothly as possible.

First of all, newly wedded couples are generally on a budget and that means that they should be extra careful about spending a lot of money on bedroom fashions. Trends change and if the couple will regret their purchase in five years then they should never have made it. So, the best thing to do is find a bedroom suite that is acceptable to both the man and woman in the relationship that they both feel they will like for at least 10 years down the road if not more. Beds made of dark wood and with simple lines are always a good and elegant choice. They match everything and will always be beautiful and stylish no matter what is in style. Keep this in mind when you enter a store and think how stylish one particular bedroom suite is. If you feel you can live with it for at least 10 years if not forever then go for it. If you aren't quite sure find one that fits this criterion.

If you buy a bedroom suite, which will likely cost you upwards of a thousand dollars, then you can be a little more playful with your comforter and linens. That's because these are easy to change when you are tired of a specific color or style. Buy sheets that are bright and bold colors and a duvet cover that matches. But, when you are tired of this trend buy some sheets that are patterned or in lighter colors. Whatever the trend it is a lot easier to play around with your sheets and other linens than it is with your actual bed!

If all newly wedded couples follow this advice they will find that they love their bedroom furniture and the versatility of changing sheets and comforter sets as they like new colors or choose to paint the walls. Make life easy and think ahead before you buy furniture and your marriage will be smooth sailing!

"Brad P's Fashion Bible" Review - Never Worry About What to Wear Again With Brad P's Fashion Bible

A guy meets a girl and instantly faces the biggest challenge. The first impression he makes. Beautiful girls get approached all the time. This is why she quickly needs to decide if he's worth pursuing or not. Girls don't consciously feel attracted to a man. They don't think "hmm, he has a nice smile, is six foot tall, let's get attracted". You might wonder what makes a girl attractive to a man. Well, girls are subconsciously attracted to qualities like social status, leadership, dominance and protection. And how can you convey these traits, so that when you meet a lovely girl, she could fall in love with you? A big part is how you dress. When dressed well, women can see your curves which conveys dominance and your type of personality.

Now if you are one of those guys that never had cool friends that could give you advice on fashion or never had women to help you out, then it's to no surprise that you probably never get many compliments from women on the way you dress yourself. (If you do, still read on, since if you have some sense about fashion then you can even improve upon your style). The problem for these guys that poorly dress themselves is that they simply don't know what they should take into account when trying to find a style that fits their personality. There are so many things to consider and yet for these men there is no resource that can help them.

Men don't have a clue about fashion. Even most "cool dudes" don't have the kind of success you can have when you dress well. They walk around in the same clothes they wore when they were young, ignorant to that conveying childishness for example. Did you know that your sense of style and fashion is a good measure for the amount of women in your life? If you never had women or stylish men help you out with fashion, you probably don't get compliments from women about the way you dress (If you do, read on, because if you already have a sense of fashion, you can improve your style even more). The problem with men that don't dress themselves well is that they never learned what style is tailored for their personality.

Do you want to dress in a way that perfectly fits your personality and get women to drool all over you? (As long as they don't ruin the clothes of course!).

If you said yes, Brad's Fashion Bible is written just for you. He goes into depth about the psychology of clothing, for example about "nice guys" and their needs to blend in with the rest of their peers when they were young (which causes them to continue to dress boring today). You see, the beliefs and values these nice guys have developed over the years have caused them to dress in ways completely unattractive to women. I've found it an interesting take on fashion to look at the inner beliefs that reside within us that influence the way we dress. Because brad has studied psychology for at least 13 years he does seem to know what he's talking about. I do think that he elaborated a bit too much on this though and if you are just a regular guy with no inhibitions about trying something new to wear, then you might want to skip the first part of Brad P's Fashion Bible.

After our psychology lesson we get right into the elitist world dressing and communicating. Because girls (biologically) want the best guy they can find, emulating the elite will create instant attraction.

In the next part the fun really begins, as Brad explains the three frameworks for creating your look. The first framework is normal and well dressed. It's easy to do and to start off with. The second framework is sexy stereotyping. Girls have a picture of their dream guy in their heads before meeting you, being dressed as the stereotype that fits that picture will cause her to be open to you immediately and will open the door to sex very swiftly. There are various types described in Brad's Fashion Bible and you will find a style that suits your personality, e.g. rock star. This will have a huge impact on girls that you'll meet as they can brag to their friends that they slept with a rock star like you. 'Framework Three' is pushing the limits. This one is the most difficult to create, since you'll have to be aware of the latest fashion and are actually mixing looks and stereotypes. When you master this frame, picking up models will be easier because she'll identify you as someone within her league.

At the end of the book Brad speaks about the basics of fashion, which include a lot of stuff to consider, like grooming and what to NEVER wear. On the very end there are a series of questions that clear up any remaining doubts around fashion.

Brad P's Fashion Bible is a great read. Although somewhat short, considering that the first half of it is spent discussing what influences the way we dress. I've checked out the other resources but they only talk about the clothing itself, instead of explaining how to create a style that attracts women like honey attracts bees. This book is an easy read and the ideas described are easy to grasp and after a quick read trough Brad P's Fashion Bible you will have enough ideas and motivation to go shopping immediately! (I did).
