How to Create Different Looks Using Colour and Accessories

It is the job of actors to make you believe they are someone completely different from who they are in their normal life. The actors give life to the writer's words and add the gestures and actions. The costume designer adds the wigs and clothes that help to create the illusion. Then there are makeup artists, set designers etc. Together all aim to create a world of believable characters.

Some characters convince us and some do not. When characters are seen in different outfits, consistency of image is important for them to be believable people. So it is for you too.

For many of us dressing is an unconscious habit. When clothes are put on in this haphazard way, we can give others an unintended or confused message. Your clothes and your accessories reflect who you are and who you would like to be perceived as.

Let me share with you some of the different looks that you, as a modern Baby Boomer woman, can create using colour and accessories to be the person you want to be.

Looking Quiet & Sure

Quiet coloured accessories help create a perception of either delicate, gentle femininity or elegant sophistication.

The Baby Boomer women who wear these are usually inclined towards the Introvert end of the scale. They enter a room with a quiet air of knowing who they are as well as being quite comfortable with the image they project.

If delicate and feminine is your style or you want to project that image, wear clothes that are light in colour and add light-coloured accessories. Some light colours are pale blue, lilac, soft apricot, mint, soft turquoise, pale pink, white and cream. An example of this would be wearing a soft turquoise feminine dress with a lilac flower, soft-coloured handbag and silver accessories or a delicate gold watch.

If you want to look sophisticated and elegant, wear clothes and accessories in closely related colours that are medium to deep like a rich red dress with a slightly darker shade of red in the shoes and handbag. Other colour examples are plums, raspberry, medium to deep turquoise and rich brown. Elegant accessories are simple in style and rich in colour or metals.

Looking Inspiring & Confident

These lift your mood to the next level and the accessories appeal to both Introverts and Extroverts while also looking inspiring and powerful. This level means that you are not afraid to make a confident impression that others will notice.

To look enthusiastic, fun, inspiring and exciting, wear medium strength warm-coloured clothes with bright contrasting-coloured accessories. Warm colours are red, orange, yellow, brown, olive and red-purple. a mid-brown patterned dress worn with bright green earrings and bright green handbag is an example of this fun and enthusiastic look.

To look powerful, confident, wealthy and attract attention wear medium-coloured clothes and accessorise with light and dark colours. Combine a mid-grey pinstripe suit with a light and dark purple scarf and deep fuchsia shoes to express the powerful and confident look without going over the top.

Looking Dramatic & Powerful

This is a look for Extroverts or to bring out the Extrovert in you. Your aim is to be noticed and most definitely stand out from the crowd. You will use the power of contrast to highlight your self-confidence and sense of drama.

To be noticed and look inspiring, stimulating and confident wear light-coloured clothes with accessories that have light and dark contrast in them. A good example is a white shirt worn with a deep red and white scarf or cravat and a deep red velvet bag. It is very look at me.

To look powerful, dignified and dramatic go the opposite way. Wear dark-toned clothes with light-coloured, dramatic accessories. This is when you wear a black dress and add a large dramatic pink necklace or large cream pearls. It is look at me with a touch of restraint.

Last Words

Accessories can create all sorts of moods. It is up to you to recognise what your current accessories silently say to others. Make sure that you wear those that give the impression you want them to have and not a confused, misunderstood impression of you.

Hair Care Advice - Top 5 Tips For Rocking Roots

The recession has had a few unexpected effects on fashion, and the growing popularity of the 'roots look' is one of them.

While people try to save some cash by waiting longer in between visits to the salon, it has become necessary to make the most of that space of time when roots have started showing but the next t-section isn't booked for another few weeks.

Showing a darker layer of hair where the colour has grown out may not be everyone's idea of hair care chic. But as Madonna proved in her 'Like a Virgin' days, it does have the potential to look good, in an edgy 80s way. In fact, Billie Piper has recently given this look a go and, while it may have appeared that she hadn't been to the salon for a long time, in fact the contrasting tones were applied on purpose.

While your roots may have appeared naturally, getting a really great look will probably require some thought and practice. Make sure you get the details right with our 5-step roots maintenance checklist.

1. Tailor the look to your hair colour

If you have blonder hair, the look needs to be natural and soft-looking. Take inspiration from Jennifer Aniston's lowlights, which have been incorporated into the through all sections of her hair to break up the line of regrowth. For lighter, bleached hair, golden shades can achieve the same effect - integrating the roots with the rest of the hair with a continuous shade throughout.

If you have darker hair, a full head of colour or gloss, one or two shades lighter than your natural shade, will still allow the root to be visible when you style your hair, but without such as heavy contrast of colours.

2. Tailor the look to your hair style

The roots look can work on any length or style of hair be tends to work the best on hair that is long, layered or softly textured. Ask your stylist for advice on how you can achieve the best roots look for your hair.

3. Maintain your roots carefully

Visit the salon regularly, not for the full dye job - just to maintain a subtle contrast between colours. This way your roots will come across more fashion than frightening, and you'll still save money compared to getting a complete dye job each time.

4. Beware of frizz

To avoid frizzy roots, apply conditioning hair care products such as moisturizing shampoo and conditioner on a regular basis. This will soften the dryer hair to give a silky feel all over. You can also use smoothing hair care products while the hair is still wet, this will give a natural textured look. When dry, applying a shine spray or hair serum will smooth the ends to create a look which, combined with the appearance of roots, will come across as pleasingly 'done but undone'.

5. Avoid the 'au natural' approach

Contrasting roots will never really look natural, so rather than trying to forget they're there, creating a carefully executed fashion statement is a good option. Leaving your roots to show through does not have to mean leaving everything to chance - stay in control and you will achieve the best overall affect.

Men's Fashion - How to Choose a Leather Jacket

As a guy who is most comfortable when in the shed using a power tool of some kind, or restoring an old classic car, fashion is not something that I used to think a lot about. If I'm honest I probably spent about 80% of my teenage years wearing strikingly similar combinations of jeans, t-shirts and hoodies. The years came and went, and the only thing that really changed about my attire was the colour of the hoodie!

This trend continued throughout my early twenties until something happened; I got married to an amazing woman who happens to be very well versed in the art of style and fashion, having worked for many years as a sales assistant in men's apparel. Today she is a successful Personal Stylist and she has helped me to change the way I look at style, and to think outside the realm of jeans and hoodies.

Don't worry, I have by no means become a mocha decaf skinny soy latte swilling fashionista, not that there is anything wrong with that. I am still most comfortable when I am holding a chainsaw or using a MIG welder, but I have started to see that guys don't have to be fashion experts to look good. Neither do you need to be overly wealthy, you just have to choose carefully and accept advice from the experts. You also need to be willing to step just slightly out of your normal comfort zone, and be willing to try wearing something other than just a t-shirt and jeans. Don't worry, nobody is going to make you wear a salmon coloured skin tight v-neck if that's not your thing, it's definitely not for me! There are however some really simple ways to spruce up your look as a guy, without feeling like you're out of your depth.

One of the simplest things you can do is to get yourself a nice leather jacket. The right leather jacket on a guy looks fantastic, and they are simply brilliant in cold weather - completely blocking out the icy winter gales. However, it is important to choose the right one - finding the right leather jacket is like finding the right partner, you need to find the one that is right for you. A good leather jacket will often outlast its owner, and for a lot of guys it becomes part of their signature look. So choose wisely! There are a huge range of leather jackets available, in all colours, shapes and styles. Once you start looking around for one you will also be startled at how they range in price. You can pick up a reasonable quality jacket on sale for around $250, and the price soars from there all the way up to $2000 and more.

My tips for choosing a leather jacket are simple;

Take Your Time

As I said, choosing a leather jacket is like choosing your life partner, it is not something you are advised to do on the spur of the moment! Do your research, shop around until you have found the colour and style that suits you. Get some advice from someone who has good fashion sense, and listen to what they have to say. If you don't know anyone who can help you in this regard, get some advice from a Personal Stylist - they will be able to pick out the style that suits you very quickly.

Don't Be Cheap

While you can easily get your hands on a leather jacket for under $180, it is not really something that I would advise. Remember, if you choose well this jacket is going to last for a long, long time. Rather than buying a cheap one that wears out after a year or so and then buying another one, bite the bullet and buy a good quality jacket to start with. The cost of a good jacket can range from $250 anywhere up to and above $2000, and how much you should spend on yours is really down to your budget. But I implore you, don't be cheap; if you buy a high quality jacket it will be a friend to you for life.

Shape, Texture and Pattern Fashions With Bratz

If you are a fashion savvy person, it is not surprising that you indulge yourself into a collection of fashion wardrobe and accessories. Figure-flattering gowns and skirts become your ultimate must-haves to project your sexy curves while denim jeans are part of your high street fashion. While you crave to know the hottest fashion news and advice, wanting to follow the latest fashion trends, you can appreciate the art of fashion more by learning shape, texture and patterns. Who do you think can best teach you these basics? The most fashionable and fabulous Bratz at the dressing up games. Love fashion not only by following it but by being a trendsetter!

Most often, you will not get lost with fashion styles and cuts when you know the names of the styles. This is for the reason that certain fashion clothes are named based on the shape, texture or the pattern of the fashion clothing. Here are some of the few which you could find in the dressing up games wardrobe.

The A-line. As the name suggest, the A-line is a set of fashion clothing that adopts the shape of the letter A. this was first introduced by Christian Dior, one of the infamous French couture designers. The silhouette if the A-line is imitated by having a funnel like shape where the fabric flares out from the top and goes fitted at the neck and shoulders. There is no shaping or seaming at the waist and the fabric goes wide to the bottom. A good example of an A-line dress is the satin sleeveless dress in purple at the dressing up games.

The fabulous ball gown. The ball gown is one of the most prominent styles of gowns that you could find at the dressing up games. This is for the reason that this cut is the most recognized formal style for special events and occasion. Most often the ball gown is made of luxurious and soft fabrics that has been trimmed delicately and worn with a shawl. While the early centuries have been noted with wrist length sleeves, the present trend goes with the gown cut off the shoulder. This is then designed and made further elegant with beads, sequins, appliqués and ruffles.

The cigarette pipe trousers. These trousers do not mean that the pants were made out of cigarette material. Since we are talking about shapes and styles, this means that it is likely compared to a cigarette in these terms. Also known as the slim fit pants or the skinny jeans thus started from 1950s and now back into fashion in the recent years. The pants have snug fit on the legs and ends with a small hole or opening. Spandex is sometimes using to make the jeans stretchable and allow super slim fit.

There is still other fashion clothing that you could find with dressing up games. Play with texture, style and shapes and see the arts in fashion.

Fashionable Dresses for Younger Girls

Finding dresses for young girls can be quite the nightmare particularly if your child comes with you on the shopping trip. Many cuts and styles of girls dresses are overly provocative being far too short and with very little material on top. Unfortunately, it is often to these adult style dresses that young girls flock and many a Saturday afternoon is spent arguing with your child over the suitability of their clothing.

Clearly a responsible parent will not allow their child to wear such revealing clothing yet the ensuing arguments may prove too much. How do you find a suitable balance that is both accepted by the parent and the child alike? Read on for style advice that strikes a happy medium.

The following trends are all popular now and you can convince your child that these dresses are suitable simply by showing them the fashion magazines. They will see that the celebrities to whom they look up are wearing similar adult versions of the following girls dresses and with a bit of luck your child will feel better with their choice.

The Military Trend
This is very popular now, and before you go running for cover, the military trend does not involve dressing up in an army uniform in the same way that little boys would love!

The military trend is all about tailored clothing, particularly the jackets. Olive greens, khaki colours and desert yellows are all appropriate colours to pull-off this trend. Choose longer style dresses with a camouflage pattern in order to strike a balance between young and old.

Purple
By way of colour this season, purple is very popular as are camel colours and reds. Given that the Royal Wedding is just around the corner purple will prove a very regal colour in which to celebrate this momentous occasion.

Ruffled Shoulders and Textured Dresses
We have seen the layering of fabrics frequently on catwalks around the world of late in particular the use of sheer materials over a non-sheer base. Girls dresses in such a design will prove perfect as they cover modesty and yet are exceptionally fashionable - most young girls will love these dresses.

Patterns
Popular patterns this season include animal print and floral detailing. Floral prints will prove very popular amongst young girls because as most people are aware we girls cannot get enough of flowers which to us represent natural beauty in its purest form. When choosing floral detailing, opt for subtle understated designs as these are the most fashionable at present.

Animal prints are a little on the wild side, and are best avoided by children under that age of 12. If you do opt to buy your child a dress with an animal print, make sure that the design is very subtle incorporate animal print gently for example using a scarf never dress from head-to-toe in an animal print - however old you are!

Men's Style Advice: A Guide to Wearing Leather Jackets

Contrary to what you might think, men's leather jackets aren't a thing of the past. In fact, the trend is once more being embraced by both high end designers and the high street.

The versatility and style factor of leather jackets cannot be denied. A quality jacket can be worn for years on end and, depending on the style, can be worn to both formal and casual occasions.

Choosing Your Jacket

There are more than just biker and bomber jackets on the market. Think contemporary. To look fashion forward you really have to take your time choosing a leather jacket with exactly the right fit for you. Baggy or puffy leather jackets don't do anyone justice, and a small size will make you feel uncomfortable.

Slim fits are flattering on most body shapes. The slimmer the fit, the more defined your torso and waist, which will give you a lot of street cred. Make sure the jacket has defined shoulders, but steer clear of padded shoulders. Slouchy shoulders can make you look really dowdy.

Avoid overly long or short sleeves. The optimum length is to your natural wrist line.

Vintage and vintage-inspired jackets are often made in heavy leathers with weighty linings. This isn't the most practical choice. Before blindly investing in a classic piece, consider your lifestyle and how suited the jacket is to it.

However, when it comes to colour, it's certainly advisable to stick to the classics: black, tan and brown. These are much more versatile than the greys, whites, creams and blues you can get on the market that are unlikely to match most of your outfits.

Look after your jacket by treating it with waterproof sprays and specialist leather cleaning products.

Styling Your Jacket

The hardest work is done once you've chosen and bought a suitable and fashionable leather jacket. From then on just wear it as you would any other coat.

For work, team it with classic tailored trousers, a button front shirt and jumper with a pair of leather loafers or brogues.

For evenings and weekends, throw it over a casual pair of chinos and a flannel shirt with leather brogues, or old school trainers.

Celebrity Fans

Men's leather jackets are worn and loved by a fair share of celebrities from musicians to TV chefs. Seek inspiration from those who've pulled the trend off well. Your celeb style icons could include James Dean, Zac Efron, Zayn Malik, Kelly Jones, Justin Timberlake and Penn Badgley.

Hair Ornaments are Back in Fashion

This summer, fashion accessories have gone to our heads, literally. Hair ornamentation is everywhere from jewelry encrusted headbands to sparkling butterflies to silky flowers- the sky's the limit.

We tend to like the simpler approach to hair decoration like Hilary Swank's diamond covered flower pin at this year's Golden Globes. With that being said, we're a little obsessed with Marc Jacobs giant faceted hair jewels. We know they are over the top...but how fun!

Our tips to pull off the hair ornament look:

1. Keep the make-up simple. Let the hair jewel be the star. Nude make-up looks are perfect companions for these dynamic hair accessories.

2. Keep your outfit simple, too. Too much color or texture on top and bottom will make you look like a clown. Potentially a crazy fashion clown and that's scary.

3. Pull your hair back. This is not a rule, but whether it's messy-back, or polished-back...we think it's a better look. Hair down with a large hair accessory can look a little bride's maid...if you know what we mean.

Hair Ornament aren't Just Little Grils Any More

Almost every parent probably thinks their little girl looks especially adorable when she has cute fashion accessories in her hair. When my daughter was a baby, I'd pull a tuft of hair up on top of her head (like Pebbles from the Flintstones cartoon) and put a baby barrette around it, which always evoked a chorus of "Aaah"'s, even from strangers.

Anyway, my question to you today is whether you ever wear hair ornaments, or if you think they're only for young girls and teens. It would be rare to see a 45 year old woman with a ponytail sporting a ribbon-much less a bow-but there is an astounding array of jeweled hair clips and combs that are lovely when used to pull or hold back hair. Once, for a fancy event, I used a comb decorated with pearls to pull back the hair on just one side, and actually felt rather glamorous doing so. (I've also mentioned here that I made my own fancy combs and clips when I was younger, and it's a good project for girly-girls.)

A few years back, Paris Hilton was photographed wearing head bands, and, on her, they looked beautiful, and many high school girls don tiaras for prom night. Most of us probably wouldn't feel comfortable following these examples, but there are still many hair accessories that may be a nice addition to an outfit if you're in a fun and adventurous mood. Who knows? You may find others copying you...take it as a compliment.

How to Shop for Hair Ornaments for Women with Short Hair

Women with short hair can still glam up their do, thanks to hair ornaments specifically designed for this style.

Let's start it off with barettes. Mostly sold in pairs, these barrettes are beautiful hair ornaments which can style up the short hair. It is also suitable for small children especially those with fine hair. It comes in various designs like flowers, ribbons, toys bears, butterflies, hearts and more.

Then there are the mini-combs. If you think that they only go for long hair, think again. There are designs made for women with short hair. They have lesser strands and smaller designs which go hand-in-hand with a shorter do. Women with short hair can also opt for French Twist combs. All they have to do is get those that are smaller and have less strands. These are especially made for them.

Hairpins is popular for women with short hair because they are the most accessible and the easiest to put too. Just choose the best designs. Because of their simplicity, they might be overlooked. But there are hair ornament stores which sell hairpins having elaborate designs. Some of them even come in pearl and crystals.

Bobby pins are like hairpins only they stick longer. They also come in pearl and crystals and their designs include flowers and butterflies and more. Their elaborate style makes it the number one hair accessory during special occasions.

Headbands are often used by women with short hair. You can style it up by choosing the elegant designs such as those that has rhinestones, crystals and pearls. Some headbands are made of wire, some are made of cloth. Either way, by wearing these hair accessories, their short hair will not only remain in place, it will also be glammed up.

Bridal Hairstyles Advice

For a modern or classic Victorian style, a beach hair styles marriage is best when it is a chignon hair or down with the simple, loose curls. Soft curls give you a very romantic look. This is true for bridesmaids as well. It is better that they follow all the same pattern. The bride must bear part of the same color and style of dress, and the same hairdo. For example, all bridesmaids should wear flowers in their hair, or shall at all. What is the best way to control the appearance of all styles of hair marriage in your marriage? Easy, it is necessary to have your entire wedding party to make a visit to a hair salon for a wedding style test.

Shows usually a tremendous reduction for the wedding hair style test service because they know you love their work and who later you can book your wedding with them. It is common for salons to submit a marriage contract. Be sure to read your contract carefully before signing it. Read every word and be sure to ask questions if you do not understand something. You know, your hair ornament is vitally important just like your apparel and bags. If you are uncomfortable with the text, it is fair to ask that the contract be amended. Do not just gloss over contract details. It should include important information such as the date of marriage, types of hair styles married marriage and make the delivery of services to be rendered. Many salons will request a deposit to keep the appointment in advance. Some contracts stipulate that deposits are not refundable. If your marriage hair contract has such a clause to determine if there is a grace period. Paying a percentage of this service, and not all prices. Also make payment with a credit card. Should there be a problem or dispute, you have a better chance of getting your money back.

Gay Men's Influence on Fashion, Style and Popular Culture

Popular culture is constantly evolving. There are many influences on what is considered fashionable and stylish at any one time. Some tend to dominate, however. And one growing trend is the effect of gay male sensibilities on many aspects of mainstream culture including films, television and fashion. No longer on the margins of mainstream culture, gay men are often making its rules.

Take the breakout show Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. This entertaining television program took the (often true!) stereotype of gay males being more fashion conscious, cultured and aesthetically adept than straight males and made it the central idea. These witty gay men ran amock, giving advice to clueless straight guys on everything from their choice of swimwear to their behavior with the opposite sex. The show was a huge hit in the USA and globally, and even spawned localized versions in different countries.

There are other, more general examples. Take the gay ideal of masculinity, which has a focus on good grooming and physical fitness. While gay male icons are often Adonis like, their heterosexual counterparts have long been able to get away with being less than fit and sometimes downright slobby. But this seems to have changed in recent years.

A couple of recent "sword and sandal" epics illustrate this well. In Troy, both main stars (Brad Pitt and Eric Bana) were fitter, stronger and more muscular than in any of their previous roles. A similar look was required for the movie 300 about Spartan warriors. All of the principal actors, as well as the extras, had clearly spent a lot of time at the gym. The star, Gerard Butler, followed a punishing training regime for four months prior to filming, often working out with a well known body builder.

One wonders how many of the original Spartans would have looked so buffed. They certainly didn't have the benefit of digital blood sugar monitors, isometric gym equipment, protein bars and all the rest. (Though they would have been far more lethal, of course!)

Compare these films with the Roman epics of the fifties and sixties. In films such as Ben Hur and Spartacus physical perfection was not nearly as important. Stars such as Tony Curtis, Kirk Douglas and Charlton Heston were certainly fit, but hardly the perfect physical specimens we've seen parading across the screen lately.

The evolving character of James Bond is another case in point. Sean Connery, the original movie Bond, was a masculine icon. He had an imposing physique and was hairy chested. He certainly wasn't overweight, but he wasn't toned either. While he did get around in his swimming trunks in at least one film, this was as much to serve the plot as it was to give the women something to ogle.

Then there was Roger Moore. While he was dapper and stylish, he was not very athletic. He was most comfortable in a suit, and seemed to have an aversion to swimwear.

The latest Bond, Daniel Craig, is more fit and muscular than any of his predecessors. He's probably been training with Gerard Butler! In one purely ornamental scene in Casino Royale he rises from the surf to display his (hairless) barrel chest and washboard stomach. Needless to say, when dressed he's always wearing the most stylish attire.

It's interesting that these are all big budget movies that are made appeal to a broad demographic. They are guy films; not gay films. Yet the action men in them look fit, sleek and often fashionable while killing all the bad guys. While the rising influence of gay male aesthetics isn't the only reason for this phenomenon, it is certainly a major factor.

Fashion Photography

Do you want to be a fashion photographer? Fashion photography is an extremely tough market to break into, but if you are willing to work hard, have a good imagination and hold the ability to take perfect images you are off to a good start.

A fashion photographer must be good in two photography disciplines. First, you need to be a great portrait photographer - second, you need to be able to create images for the advertisement market. You must be able to combine the two if you are going to succeed.

To be a successful fashion photographer you must also have a love of fine design clothes - without it you will never achieve the heights that bring success. A fashion photographer must stay up to date with all the latest fashion and have the ability to use his/her imagination to sell new designs.

Selling is the key - the fashion photographer must be able to sell his images to the fashion editor. Fashion photography is advertising and selling clothes.

To establish a reputation in fashion photography, the first thing you must do is set up a portfolio. Your portfolio should display your best work and be your first selling point. The second, and equally as important as the first, is to set up an online portfolio - your own personal Website.

To set up a portfolio you first must hire a model. Contacting your local modelling agencies can do this. You don't need to hire a well-known model for your fashion portfolio - you need someone who will act well in front of the camera.

To be very successful you need to build a good relationship with models. Some models can be tough to work with so people psychology will play an important part. If you intend to shoot from your home studio supply a changing room for them.

If a model becomes unhappy for any reason the photo session will be a waste of time. Allow your model to make their own suggestions - regardless of how trivial it may be, it will help to keep them relaxed and you may get results that may be useful.

Once your portfolio is created you need to get exposure for it. If you have previously published work - use them as a statement with the picture editors. You need to establish a good working relationship with all fashion editors that you'll be working with. So be professional.

Fashion photo editors are looking for concise images that clearly communicate an idea. You must, as a fashion photographer, have the ability to create unique settings.

When you do gather a large amount of fashion images, submit them to a fashion agency: Women's magazines all over the world buy hundreds of stock shots every month. Photo agencies exist to sell photographers images - some of the larger fashion agencies have buyers all over the world. Some agencies can also re-sell your work in several different markets, and others will give you great career advice.

Keep up to date with fashion magazines, study the market and always be on the lookout for changing trends.

Don't be afraid to take the first step. If a fashion editor has no interest in your work - don't worry - try contacting different magazines or agencies - most great photographers have their work rejected some time during their career.

More Fashion Ideas For Your Wedding

My first bit of advice is to hire a good coordinator to assist you as you have only 4-5 months to plan.
The good part of planning in a short period of time is you need to make decisions NOW!

I think a wedding in December would be wonderful. Several reasons being...places are already decorated for the holidays so you don't have a lot of decorating expense. The colors you'll want to use will be the rich, jewel tones, such as deep purple, blues, reds, and greens, any of the warm tones.

If you decide to go ahead with a wedding for this year, you'll need to get your dress ordered ASAP. It may limit you just a bit as to which designers you can use since some of the dresses may take 6+ months to get back. Once you've decided on your dress then you select your attendants' dresses. You can go with velvets and other rich fabrics if you'd like.

Flowers can be anything from roses to orchids. Select a good florist and then take a picture of your dress with you. They will help you select the flowers and style of bouquet that will work best for you. They will also help you with your reception decor. Poinsettias are beautiful for a December wedding and you can give them to special guests. They work well for altar decor as well as small ones on the reception tables.

I hope this helps. I've just touched on a small part of the planning you'll need to do so I'll reiterate how important it is that you consider hiring a coordinator to assist you. Another idea would be to get a book that could help you with your wedding or go on the internet and see if you could get infor from any of the wedding sites.

My guide says that April is the blooming month for Magnolias. So I don't see you having them. You might ask your local florist about that.

I am not aware that they can be imported from someone else that time of year. Your locals would know more about the southern beauty. There are also Gardenias ... not an inexpensive flower. It, too has a nice full look.

It's harder than it seems! When I think of western, I think of bandanas, rodeos and lassos. With that said, you could use reds, whites, and browns. You could use bandanas for napkins, set up bails of hay and go all out. I think a western style wedding is a very cute and original idea!

While the chocolate brown is generally thought of for fall weddings, I'm sure it will be beautiful in July as well.

Colors in the off whites or deep creams, yellows or pinks would be beautiful. To me deep brown calls for gold as an accent as well.

To soften the brown, I'd probably go with variations of pinks. There are a number of flowers available in July in different tones that would lend themselves very nicely to decor as well as flowers to carry.

For example, I would recommend using cream colored linens as they will add a "warm" feel to the reception. Then use different colors and types of pink flowers or candles.

You can go anywhere from carnations (which really are coming back and do make beautiful arrangements etc. especially if on a tight budget) to Calla Lilly. Visit with your florist to see what is in season and build from there.

Following The Girls Fashion Trends

Girls in their teens and in college are inundated with fashion from their friends and acquaintances. One can say they are immersed in fashion and have to be very fashion conscious to not appear out of touch and to decide what to wear every day.

Here is some advice to help those girls keep up to date with the latest fashion trends.

There are different styles that come out every year. Most designers release at least two collections per year, during fall and spring, while others release four collections - one for every new season. It is really tough being sharp on all those new things considering the different styles that are introduced with all those new collections. Besides, not all styles fit all people.

Even though you would love to wear a particular outfit that looked really good on the model on the runway, it might look pretty odd and out of place when you wear it. The first key to narrowing down your focus is to zoom in on those collections and styles that fit your particular height, weight, and personality type.

If you want to be on the safe side, select one of the classic styles. They rarely go out of fashion. However, girls don't always like wearing classic clothes so, how can they always be in fashion? A simple way to make girls fashion work for you is to choose from a collection that suits you best. For example, if a particular color suits your skin tone best, you can wear a top of that color with jeans or black pants, which don't have to be from the same collection.

Accessorizing is another clever way of keeping up with the latest girls fashion without even having to wear clothes from the latest trends. Work with your body's strong and weak point, and select accessories that will enhance your best features. Nobody is perfect. You need to hide your flaws and enhance your good features, just like those seemingly perfect models that grace the catwalks of the fashion world.

A belt, scarf, hair clips or shoes can make all the difference in looking like an out of touch cave dweller and a hip fashion-conscious urban girl.

Make sure that you know what works for you and then find the fashion news sources that cover new collections and styles that suit you specifically. That way you can always be up to date with the latest girl fashion without suffering from information overload.

Why Hire a Personal Stylist For Your Fashion Makeover?

If you've always wanted to seek fashion advice from an expert and dress and feel like a celebrity, then hiring a personal stylist is the way to go. Here are some of the reasons of having one.

• Having a personal fashion stylist boosts self-esteem, therefore making you feel good about yourself. Once you feel good about yourself, you develop a more positive outlook in life.

• Being treated like a celebrity always makes you feel special. Moreover, you look wonderful wherever you go and don't even have to go through the trouble of selecting an amazing outfit every single day.

• The feeling of being pampered. Having someone take care of the task of shopping that you may dread or just not want to deal with. This gives you the time and freedom to do other things.

• Personal stylists obtain a fashion degree or have a natural knack for fashion and are considered to be experts in the latest fads. This means that every piece of fashion advice they offer is golden and should be followed. They also ensure that your wardrobe is updated with every classic fashion piece that's hot in the trends.

• Convenience. A busy schedule is one of the things that hinder you from getting fashion advice. Online personal fashion stylists are available so you can communicate better with your own personal online stylist especially if you have an urgent question or having a fashion emergency.

With the right budget, having a personal stylist or an online personal stylist will surely make you feel extraordinary and styled like a celebrity.

Three Essential Fashion Tools Every Woman Needs

Know yourselfis the rallying call of coaches, preachers, style writers and image consultants.

These two words are great. It is what the experts add after those two words that can inspire or deflate you. Most often they are negative words.

Know your body faults and read on for how to minimise or hide them is a common theme of many fashion articles.

Not this one.

I believe we women need to know ourselves in a positive way. It is more pleasurable and satisfying to concentrate on our strengths. Then our so-called negatives fade into insignificance and we present as comfortable in our skin and confident in our attitude to dressing and life.

Here are the three essential fashion tools that I believe every baby boomer woman needs so that you can know yourself positively.

A Pair of Scissors

Why scissors? Scissors are obviously useful for cutting off price tags. Then you need them for cutting off annoying or prickly tags; those coat hanger straps that can dangle out your armhole; any buttons, bows or added decoration that are not your style; untrimmed stitching on seams and that loose hem thread. We have all been in a hurry and pulled the loose thread. Suddenly the whole hem falls down. Your impatience and mine too leads to Plan B dressing.

If you have basic sewing skills, scissors are also great for cutting off the extra length on clothes or cutting extra pieces to add to too-short items.

A Tape Measure

I am not talking about measuring your bust, waist and hips. These may change over the years. Once you have grown to your full height (and that was probably a long time ago), it is your best lengths that are important. Get these right for you and you present a consistent and modern impression to everyone you meet.

These are the lengths I measure, record and refer to all the time. When I try on a new item, I know where these vital measurements are on my body so that I or my professional alteration person can adjust it to that length. I have found and measured my best short sleeve length, my best three-quarter sleeve length and my best long sleeve length. I also record my most flattering top and skirt lengths. Add to this my inside leg measurements for shorts, jeans and dress pants and it is always easy to look smart.

These may need minor adjustments according to the fit of the item. I measure, pin and then cut and sew or take the item to my alteration person.

Words of Warning!Adjust skirt lengths for modesty when seated. I have had hard experience in that area.

When I find a skirt, dress, pants or jeans with a very flattering line, I also record width measurements at certain lengths. Then I taper other clothes so that they are close to that flattering line.

The Word No

This one is a mental fashion tool. Time management experts tell us that we are defined more by what we say no to, rather than what we say yes to. It is the lure of the shiny objects and in fashion, we women sometimes find shiny objects hard to resist.

Say no to those lust-have items and impulse buys that are totally impractical wardrobe-wise and care-wise. It is much safer to take a picture and drool over the picture rather than spend your money and regret it later.

Say no to unwanted fashion advice - either from family, friends or sales assistants. Learn to understand your personality, colouring and style so others do not intentionally or unconsciously impose their view on you.

Say no to gifts of clothing from family and friends especially if you dislike the item and will never wear it. Politeness is not always a virtue. Be assertive about who you are and what you want to wear to represent the best in you.

Last Words

Yes, people judge you on first impressions. When you meet the same people regularly, it is your consistency or lack of it that they remember. Discover and measure your most flattering lengths, use scissors to define your style and say no often. These are three essential fashion tools that I use because they help me know and define myself positively.

Interesting Careers in the Fashion Industry

Do you have a love for fashion? Whether you make your own garments or you regularly end up giving vogue advice to people who you know? If so, maybe you should think about a career in the fashion industry? If you haven't, chances are you'll need to take the time to do so. Despite the wide spread delusions that a profession in fashion is one that is difficult to achieve, it is possible but it requires a lot of willpower and patience.

In terms of having a profession in the fashion industry, many are surprised in precisely what tasks and responsibilities are involved. The good thing about fashion is that there are a number of related focused jobs and careers out there. There's something for everyone, even if it's not in the limelight. Of course, many of the jobs involve working for another fashion expert or company, but there are opportunities out there that allow you to be your own your own boss.

Designers

One of the most popular and wanted careers in style is that of a designer. Fashion designers are people who design clothing, apparels, and accessories, such as jewelry or handbags. Many fashion designers start out small by making garments and clothing apparels for themselves and their friends, that's how it usually starts. However, with determination, many continue to start promoting their very own fashions. You need a keen eye, creativity but more importantly - good marketing sense since your creations need to eventually sell.

Tailors/Cutters

Designers work closely with the dressmakers, or tailors (also known as the cutters). They actually produce the apparels or accessories. What is good about being a dressmaker is that you can make your individual clothes (once you get the patterns of the designer). Of course, dressmakers and tailors require a lot of patience and it's very hectic, and fast pass environment.

Retailers/Agents

One career that you may be considering is being the owner and operator of a style store. Fashion stores are available in different sizes, shapes, and styles. Some stores concentrate on a specific type of clothing, like elegant eveningwear, and others who provide all various kinds of fashions for all types of people, like men, ladies, children, short, tall etc... Retailers get to see what everyone else is doing in the industry and have to be in tune with the markets and leading trends.

Agents are the people that sell the garments to the retailers in the industry. In some ways, they represent the designers. A good agent knows the limitations of their designers and will only select good designers to represent.

Fashion Consultants

Another trend profession that could be of curiosity to you is a fashion consultant. Fashion consultants are individuals who advise their customers (usually designers) on the newest styles. Many designers will hire fashion consultants for input on what is hot and what will sell the best in the upcoming season.

Fashion consultants are also used to help individuals with their cloths and "how to wear them". For example, fashion consultants will help people who are unsure about what to wear at a job interview, at a wedding, or for a special event.

Fashion Show Organizers

Many people do not realize, but fashion shows require a lot of work and they have to happen twice a year (fall and spring). Every designer needs to show case their products, and in doing so means that they have to do a lot of traveling. Fashion show organizers can take two forms. One is by being part of the organizing committee of the fashion show; the other is being the representative of the designer at the fashion show. Both require a lot of energy since you are always surrounded by people, cameras, and glitz. It's a short duration, but it's fast and full.

Style Article

I've heard it hundreds of times, "I just can't believe how window treatments finish the room!" When a window fashion is designed specifically for you, all the elements in the room magically come together. To achieve this decorating nirvana, you should consider working with a professionally trained expert in window fashions.

Today, you can find many options in getting decorating advice. However, only an Exciting Windows! designer is someone who specializes in window fashions and can provide you with beautiful, functional and well-appointed treatments. As a designer that masters in creating thousands of treatments, I would like to share a few of our trade secrets.

Window Fashions are truly one of the few remaining elements in home decor that is custom made. As a window fashion designer, the palate I work with is your window and I express my creativity in choosing fabrics and trims and designing fabulous creations for the room.

I have seen many poorly done window treatments. Sometimes the fabrication is executed wrong, or it could be in the design. How does a consumer know what to look for when hiring a designer?

Since window treatments are first seen at the time of installation, this requires a careful analysis on which company you use. The first place to determine the capability of a designer is to look at their portfolio. Take a close look at the work. Can you see a good use of color, proportions, functionality and of course great looking treatments?

When a trained window fashion designer visits your home be prepared for the most pleasant decorating experience. The designer will take note of your decor, your choices of color, textures and other important aspects to the room that will affect the window treatments. A discussion of styles is important. There are 6 basic styles of window fashions, which are:

1) Romantic
This is a very soft and flowing design. Typically done with sheers and draped in a swag design. The fabrics can be teamed up with decorative trim. This style also plays with the light, as the fabric itself appears illuminated when the sun streams through the window.

2) Modern
Modern or contemporary treatments are simple but create a very powerful design statement. Geometrically shaped cornices in suede are great compliments to a modern room. The use of grommets in a drapery panel, add a new twist to drapery on a metal pole.

3) Youthful
Either for a boy or girl, rooms designed for children have bright bold colors, with fun elements in the design. From simple valances to toys designed into the treatments, the imagination is free as it is in a child's mind.

4) Elegant
Silk creates the most elegant window fashions. Combined with great trims, silk draperies are the most fabulous treatment. When a silk is interlined (a flannel lining in between the face fabric and the lining) it creates the most luxurious creation.

5) Historical
Traditional treatments call for the use of damasks, stripes that are layered over sheers. Swags and jabots are commonly used. Ethnic influences can be introduced with this style.

6) Classic
This is a more tailored style of design. A decorative pole, in wood or iron with simple panels is a great way to implement this look.

Whatever style you choose, your Exciting Windows! designer provides you with a sense of comfort in knowing you will be thrilled with your decisions. Remember, this is truly a custom product and there should be only one result upon the installation of your window treatments: Pure joy!

Expert Hair and Makeup Tips For Weddings

Today we're proud to feature world-class hairstylist, groomer, and makeup artist Marco Berardini. He is going to share some expert tips on prepping for the big day when it comes to hair, skin, and makeup for the bride and groom. He has a huge celebrity clientele, has worked in all the fashion capitals of the world and now he's going to share his best tips with you.

BRIDES

1. Time Your Haircut- Five to seven days before the big day, get to the salon. Haircuts always look best when it's had time to slightly grow in after getting it cut. A color mishap could happen, so give yourself time to make any necessary adjustments.

2. Don't Wash Hair the Day Of- If you have dry hair, do not wash your hair the day of the wedding; your natural oils will help create a shinier, more manageable style. If your hair is normal to oily, your best bet is to wash it the same day.

3. Time to Set- Make sure that your hair has time to set properly, as your style needs to last all day. Too often, styles fall flat because they haven't been set long enough. Always keep dry shampoo or baby powder on hand to maintain your style and volume throughout the day. Hugs can be an up-do's worst enemy; keep bobby pins in your or a bridesmaid's purse to keep loose strands at bay.

4. Stay True to You- Try to keep hair and make-up as modern and fresh, yet true to yourself as possible. Don't deviate too much from what you would do on a daily basis. It's not a time to start experimenting with a new look. Remember, you will be looking at these pictures ten years from now, and you want to be able to recognize yourself. Think of those poor brides from the 80s with blue eyeshadow and red lipstick on their big day - It's almost like looking at a clown!

5. Avoid Break Outs- If you tend to break out easily, make sure to wash your pillowcase often, as bacteria, make-up, and styling products can cause your skin to act up.

6. Lip Color- If you opt for color on your lip, go for using a matte or "long-lasting" lipstick, as the satin and gloss finishes can cause a messy situation at the altar.

7. Time your Facial- Don't forget that getting a facial too close to the big day can be a disaster as well. Facials can create blemishes or redness as the skin is refreshing itself. You need to give your skin at least a week to adjust.

GROOMS

1. Schedule your Cut- Try to get a trim five-seven days before the big day. Freshly cut hair never looks as good as slightly grown out hair. Add a facial the week before your wedding day too. Not only will this get rid of impurities and blackheads, it will get rid of dead skin cells that make getting a close shave difficult.

2. Grooming Products- If you don't already use high-quality men's grooming products, start as soon as you can. These will make a huge difference, not only for your wedding day, but will make you look younger for the long haul. By using higher-quality shaving products well before the big day, you'll alleviate or diminish razor rash from occurring.

3. Go to a Pro- Treat yourself to a professional shave at a barbershop the day before the wedding. Not only will this relax you, but will give you the closest possible shave for that first kiss with your new wife. If razor rash is unavoidable, use a medicated concealer that will not only camouflage it for the thousands of pictures you'll be in, but will accelerate the healing.

World-class hairstylist, groomer and makeup artist for A-list celebrities such as Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Patrick Dempsey and LeBron James, Marco Berardini has lived and worked in every fashion capitol in the world including Paris, Milan, London and New York.  Today, based in Los Angeles - he is the founder and creator of the next advancement in grooming -- EVOLUTIONMAN.

Fashionable You

In the modern time, fashion changes every year, even though fashion is different for each social class, generation, geography and others, there are certain thing that became like a compass guide for fashion. New York, Paris, Milan, and other large cities are known as the fashion capital, this is where large fashion shows are held every year. From haute-de-couture fashion to ready wear fashion, all are available there, from novice designers to top class designers all gathered in one goal that is to introduce tomorrow's fashion.

Fashion industry has turn into a profitable business. This is also supported by the media. Fashion journalism has become an important part of fashion, critiques, comments, and advices regarding fashion can be found in printed media and so is in electronic media. There are even certain media that focus only to the fashion world, from magazines, to televisions, and now the websites.

Following the fashion trend and style is not always about expensive and high cost clothing, you can also be fashionable with affordable and low budget fashion items. There are many manufacturers in clothing that always up-to-date with fashion style, some even use top class designers design as example, with alternative fabrics and other accessories so you can wear designers' look a like clothes.

Fashion is not only about the clothes you wear, it is also about the accessories and footwear, starting from the top of your head, to the bottom of your feet, all is accounted as fashion. Besides from manufacturers that took a design of a designer and then they recreate a similar design with their own brand, there are also others that copycat the design and also the brand for the items, usually high end and expensive brand that are made with high quality being replicated using cheaper fabric with low quality but the brand listed is the high end brand. This is not only cause material loss for the brand holder, it can also cause the fall of the brand image. Replica items, usually made with cheap materials and also workers, even in some countries under-aged children are worked as labor. Some even did physical abuse to the children just to keep them from running away. Do not be a fashion victim, you can be fashionable disregarding of the brand and price.

How Social Media Is Affecting Current Fashions and Trends

In the past, the fashion world has seemed like a place out of reach to the general public. A mysterious place; which only the rich and famous could be part of. These days, however, thanks to the revolution of social media, this world has opened up, and everyone can join in and share experiences. Social media has had a huge impact on fashions and trends.

One of the leading examples of social media which has affected fashion is blogging. The demand for blogging has increased immensely over the past few years, and more people are becoming involved in this way of connecting with each other. Fashion bloggers report on the latest fashions and trends via relevant websites, before they reach magazines, and interestingly, we now see bloggers sitting in the front row of catwalk shows. A place which was previously reserved for only celebrities and designers. The reason there is such a huge interest in this form of social media, is not only because we can usually relate to the writer, but also because they have the ability to report on the latest trends instantly after the shows have taken place. This diminishes the need to wait weeks or months on magazines being published, or websites updated. It also gives us a platform to interact and communicate with each other.

Popular websites such as Facebook, twitter and YouTube have also had a tremendous influence on ladies fashion and current trends. Top designers such as Burberry and Louis Vuitton have used these types of social media to stream live catwalk shows as they happen, which enables viewers to tell each other about the latest fashion before it reaches the shops. It is also a way to communicate directly with designers, which increases their awareness of what looks are popular and what fashion enthusiasts are interested in. It enables people to feel connected and express their opinions. It also allows people to have a direct influence on fashion trends, and know their views are valued. Designers are also developing ways for viewers to make instant clothing purchases, during these live performances.

Fashion dedicated sites such as Polyvore and Chitopia have in-built forums, where visitors can interact with each other, and share style tips and advice. There is also the option to upload photos, and show off your personal style. These types of fashions sites have a significant affect on current trends, as people love to talk to each other, and what better way to showcase your own unique style, and allow others to become inspired and even replicate ideas.

The increase in social media not only affects styles and trends, but it also allows designers to reach a higher amount of people, in a shorter time frame. It can greatly increase traffic to specific websites, and as a result, make a huge impact on online sales. The need and desire for social media is only set to continue and make way for an even more interesting and inspirational way to interact and enjoy the latest styles.

Here's A Japanese Dating Advice You Will Surely Need When Meeting Japanese Girls

Never overlook the importance of seeking Japanese dating advice when you want to succeed in dating a person from a Japanese background, whether you yourself are a Japanese looking to get into a relationship or someone trying to date a Japanese for a date. This can definitely help you out on taking your first step.

Dating is an act of establishing a relationship to someone you are attracted with or to someone you feel you are compatible with and can create a connection wherein you will share more than just what you know and like. Cultural differences are one of the problems that should be given ample amount of attention in a relationship especially if both of the couples come from completely different backgrounds. Hence if not settled well, conflicts will surely arise, the relationship that you have will be put into waste and could end up easily due to petty misunderstandings. That is why it is important that both of you can adapt to your differences and settle any disputes that you will encounter hand in hand.

Knowing the Japanese' culture and traditions are important because this greatly shapes the way you handle and manage a relationship. Understanding and accepting who they are as people of their country and as a medium of their culture is the key to success if you are dating someone with a Japanese background. Some Japanese dating advice will definitely bring you a long way.

A very important Japanese dating advice is to treat a Japanese person with respect. Establish a good first impression to your date and make certain that you value him or her as a person.

One of the important values that is most common in Asian men and women is their deep connection with their family. Asian culture emphasizes the importance of family ties as well as values and Japanese culture is no exemption. Accepting their family and understanding their values is a one step closer to a successful and lasting relationship with a Japanese.

Another important yet overrated virtue that one should be aware of when dating Japanese women is punctuality. It greatly reflects consistency and will make or break the impression of the Japanese woman that you're dating. Being on time is a factor to astonish someone because Japanese are known to be prompt especially on schedules, deadlines and other activities. Consistency on what you say, act or behave greatly affects the impression of your date to you.

The Japanese even in ancient times are some of the most hardworking people in the world. That's why many Japanese people are successful in different chosen fields such as business and arts. Their dedication for work is matchless. If you invite a Japanese on a date make sure that you have established a good name and good occupation in order to impress and satisfy your date.

One of the desirable traits of the Japanese is their love of fashion and their unique sense of style. Always remember whenever on a date try to look fashionable, neat and proper but not too exaggerated.

Try to familiarize their language. Knowing that you know how to speak some their Japanese language will surely impress them, so improve those Japanese language abilities starting now.

When dating Japanese people it doesn't need to be that difficult. All you have to do is be yourself and be honest of what you really like. What's important is that you mutually like each other and respect one another, and after that, everything follows.

If you are ready to date a Japanese girl, remember to seek Japanese dating advice first to guide you to a fruitful and lasting relationship.
